Outstanding service. Both James and Valerie Padilla made the buying experience fun, thorough, and satisfying. Both knew their products, explained them well and handled our needs. They asked the right questions, understood the products, strengths and weaknesses, and clearly presented the different choices. They both were friendly, professional, and knew where the products we were looking for were located which made the buying process easy.

store is clean, well stocked and very organized. I have never had a problem getting what i need and if they did not carry the specific item most of the employees were always willing to recommend a store , whether another home depot or not, that might carry that item.

In the past, it has been difficult to get help from employees in a timely fashion. Our most recent visit, however, was amazing. We got help right away without having to walk for miles looking for help and the process of ordering was seamless, as well. Best experience I've had at any Home Depot ever.

Always receive good help here. Self checkout, Pro. and customer service desks good. One of 3 checkers I used today seemed to be more of a credit card sales person than a checker, and might benefit from better people skills, but that’s unusual for this store.

HomeDepot inBridgepoint San Mateo is a very woman-friendly store. The store is very well maintained and clean. If you need help you will find someone that gives you advise on a particular item. I have gone to this store many times and every time the staff is really friendly and helpful. They also have a great selection on indoor and outdoor plants and Christmas items.

I went to exchange a propane tank for a full one and also purchase other items. I got in line at customer service. 1 person ahead of me with a selection of large insulating wall boards and 2 people behind me. In front of the counter was an unmanned cart of items that were returned and needed to be re-assimilated. Behind the counter was 1 associate at the register and 2 others chatting with each other. Another associate arrives from behind pushing a shopping cart. She needs to get through to the front to get behind the counter with her shopping cart so that she can unload. She can't get through due to the large items belonging to the customer ahead of me. The associate at the register comes out from behind the counter and pushes the large load aside then goes to help the arriving associate negotiate her way through with her cart. They roll the unmanned cart aside in one direction and ask everyone in line to step aside in the opposite direction. While they are choreographing this maneuver, neither of them notice another associate surfacing from between tall shelves behind the counter pushing a cart of her own. This associate has managed to wedge her cart of items firmly between the wall and something on the floor behind the counter that I could not see. While she is hockeying and shoving to get her cart free so she can get out from behind the counter, we have the other two trying to figure out who needs to move where so they can get their cart behind the counter.
Have you ever had that moment when you need validation to determine if something is really happening or if it's all in your imagination? Well, this was my moment. I turned to look around and the customer in line behind me had one hand covering his mouth, his eyes were streaming tears, and his upper torso was shaking with silent laughter. Customer #1 at the head of the line is struggling to get into his pocket several rolled up register receipts from the end of the spool. You know it's the end because the receipt has the blue smudge along the edge.
Finally, the two associates managed to get the cart to the counter where the pass through is now blocked from the associate with the cart that was wedged in place trying to get out. They need to either throw their cart into reverse or plow through to push the other one back into the wedged position from whence it came. Finally, intelligence came out of hiding and they decide to just take the curtain rod out of the cart and pass it over to the associate behind the counter. Yes, the cart had only a curtain rod in it. Honestly, the Keystone Cops had nothing on these three.
But I digress. I finally got to the counter, set my tank down and said "I need to exchange this tank for a refill.", I paid and received my receipt. I turned to walk away when the register person said "You need to take your tank. You can't leave it here." I asked "How was I supposed to know that? I've never been given a receipt for an Item I'm returning along with the item." So, I grabbed the tank and and went for my other items. When done, I went to the garden department where I had always gone to get the filled tank. There was no body there. I mean NO BODY. I shouted "Hello" several times and gave up. I went back inside through the double-sliding doors and stopped the first associate I met and told him I needed to exchange my propane tank. He said "OK, I think they're right here." as he turned and walked down the aisle where the BBQ grills are. He pulled a tank off the shelf and brings it to where i'm standing and says "I think these are empty." Then he asked if he could lift up my tank to compare their weights. I knew they would both be equally empty, but I thought it would be a nice way to round out the evening's entertainment.so I let him have a go at it. He lifted the two tanks, one in each hand, and set them down. Then, he looked at me in dismay (either that, or he had a case of sudden onset severe gas.) I said, "Yes, they're both empty which is why I need to exchange mine for a full one that I've already paid for." "Oh" he said. "Wait here." He walks to the customer service counter, then walks back to me and says someone would be here to help and he walk away down an aisle. No one came.
I grabbed my tank and started back to customer service. On my way I meet another floor associate and ask for help with the propane tank. "Sure." he says "Hang on." Now, off he goes to (you guessed it) customer service. I was beginning to feel like little red riding hood. Not the one from the original story, but the one from "Into The Woods." As he's walking back to me I hear the announcement "Customer needs assistance with propane tanks.". No one came.
At this point, it's been about 30 mins since I entered the store. I walked to customer service where the same associate was behind the counter. When she saw me, she pointed to some guy wearing a jacket and hoodie standing near the exit. As I approached him he asks "Are you waiting for a propane tank?" I wanted to say "No, I carry an empty tank with me everywhere I go." but I didn't. He tells me to follow him out the front door which I did. By that point, I'm carrying an empty propane tank, a flat screen tv wall mount, and two electrical outlets. Even so, not a single alarm sounds as I walk through the doorway to outside where they keep the full tanks in a locker. We exchange tanks, and then he scurries off.
I'm now standing outside in front the store with my propane tank and the three items I've not yet paid for. I have never before experienced such a quandary. I wanted so badly to just go home, but I knew I needed to pay for the items. I also thought that if I went inside again that I might never come out, but I did go back inside and walked directly to the Self-Checkout.

This is a very busy store that for the most part has everything I am looking for, but on occasion runs low or out of very ordinary items. The employees are normally cheerful and helpful. But again on occasion there is a grumpy one. My general opinion of the store is good.

San Mateo/Foster City store offered excellent customer service. They made 2 errors with saw cuttings for me, corrected everything the next day and sent me off with free cutting and the plywood piece which was a scrap, free of charge. I was VERY impressed with Dave, a manager in Wood. Very personable fellow who handles a lot of issues for a lot of people. Only critique is that several aisles were blocked by portable stairs throughout the store. Wasn't able to look at planer I want to purchase because of this. Noticed other aisles same problem and also in Garden section, too. Hope that improves. But the people were great otherwise.

After receiving professional quote on window treatments, I decided to visit The Home Depot in San Mateo to find our own blinds and potentially install it ourselves. Learning that the installation cost provided by The Home Depot was VERY reasonable, I've moved forward with an associate, Peter Chase, who was attentive, helpful, detailed oriented, and pleasant to work with. With wide variety of window selections, we finalized on 10+ blinds & roller shades and the total including installation was WAY LOWER than any quotes I've received. Even our Property Management Company was impressed and encouraged me to move forward since I picked out EXACTLY what I liked, and have the peace of mind that professional assistance and installation comes with this package. Thank you Peter Chase and Dan (unknown last name)!!

It is nearly impossible to drive up to the large warehouse door to pick up large quantities of products. Contractors and others park and block that area and there is no active loading by these people. In general, HD is bush league due to the need to purchase large items such as lumber and sheetrock with shopping carts and other carts. A professional supplier allows the patrons to drive up to the products or assists in accessing and loading the products.

The store's sales persons who I came into contact with were customer-focused and attentive to my needs and concerns, specifically when I had a question about a $100 price increase in a garage side door I ordered because of a minor adjusted measurement that put the order into a customized pricing category. The sales person, Emily, went beyond expectations in devising a solution that would satisfy me.
In the up front self-help area, Reyna helped me enroll for a Home Depot credit card and afforded me a price discount on today's purchases. She was efficient and courteous.

I don't know why I keep going back to this particular Home Depot store. The employees are awful. I have never had a good experience in there. Either no one helps me, or the person who helps me has an attitude. The guy today was ridiculous. I just asked where the pre-cut dowels were. When he asked me questions his tone was like I was a child. Or worse, a woman who has no sense. I almost said, Do you have any idea who you are talking to?! He was condescending, demeaning, and I didn't appreciate his help at all. I almost called him a jerk. Hey, if that's the way Home Depot likes their employees, if that's the way they train them, then I will find another way to get lumber. I have complained several times but it never gets any better. They need serious training in how to treat customers, and how to accept women as equals.
