Whether you’re looking to light a hallway, a microwave or a heat lamp, incandescent light bulbs are a good, basic option. They are the original type of electrical lighting and the filament technology has been around for more than 100 years and comes in a wide variety of wattages, sizes and shapes.
Back to Style Basics
While many have opted to upgrade their technology to
CFL bulbs or LED bulbs, the warm glow of incandescent bulbs remain a favorite for mood lighting, especially
Edison bulbs in trendy restaurants. While not as long-lasting, commercially, the option for
incandescent work lights remains available for bulb replacement.
Lighting Technology
Technologically, incandescent bulbs use a tungsten filament that is enclosed in glass. When the electric current is sent through the filament, it heats up and produces light. CFL bulbs, on the other hand, utilize currents sent through gases (usually mercury) to produce light. The most cost-effective and long-lasting option is the LED light bulb, which uses multiple colors of diodes to emit light.
Whether you’re looking to create a warm glow or light a bright pathway, incandescent bulbs are a tried and true option for lighting.
