I came to this store to find an item that was out of stock in all other area stores and was helped by Sandy, Nilson and Jen (manager on duty) to find exactly what I needed, at a great price and all with smiles on their faces. Most competitive hardware stores have very little help available and when you finally find someone to "help" you they make you feel like you're bothering them. I highly recommend this Home Depot location as it is well stocked, clean and has readily available, friendly and helpful associates.

I have written you before about the store. I was even there on opening day. In the recent years the store has become an embarrassment. Not only did you do away with a fantastic staff managing the registers but you replace them with self check out guns; I do not work for you and I will not use those guns. for years I spent tens of thousands of dollars at this particular location (danvers east). Over the last few years I have preferred the higher prices at Lowe’s to the filthy danvers east store with its bad customer service. for a few years now I’ve inquired about this to the few remaining employees that know me by name (prior to you automating the front of the store, just about every member of the store knew me personally). I think it’s interesting and important for you to know that your employees know that the store has been “ruined“ but they feel their hands are tied and no one enjoys the spirit of the store anymore. How sad. Your store are used to have many smiles. far too often now young employees won’t look you in the eye or found huddled in little groups talking among them selves. in contrast for a handful of grapes and hard-working employees who are clearly frustrated that they work so hard. If I were in charge I would promote these people to positions of authority to prepare the new hires to serve their customers with excellence and attention to their needs. I am taking much of my time to write these reviews today. if it weren’t for the flawless customer service experience from a man named Tom and a customer service register last night I would not have taken the time. The first thing he did was pick up the phone when I called. In recent years I can call all of the surrounding Home Depot’s with the phone ringing for minutes and no one will pick up. This happens many times of the day and meanwhile I am pestered by the computer service to spend minutes of my time pressing the directories. Please go back to having a telephone operator picks up the phone on the first ring that says “ thank you for calling Home Depot how can I direct your call” The second thing Tom did is he make sure the product I was looking for was on the wall. I was in a bit of a rush and he found it on the computer and then personally located it on the wall for me. He then offered to bring the bulk order I intended to buy upfront to the customer service desk personally. By this time I was almost speechless by his incredible care and service. Third he recognized I searching eyes he greeted me personally and processed my order and then offered to help load my vehicle. He did all of this with a natural friendliness and conversation. by this time I was so blown away that I stood there jaw-dropped i’m thoroughly impressed. please find out who Tom is. he was working the night of May 15 at the Danvers East location in Massachusetts. at the customer service desk. i’m impressed with the new management, jen, Who is striving to turn the store around and her strides are most evident. But when you combine her efforts with service like that of Tom’s I assure you you could win back all of your disgruntled customers. The Word on the street in the word in the isles of your store is that no one is there to help people aren’t friendly store is a mess. I recognize in the last few months Jen has been improving all of that. But if you had people like Jen and Tom taking care of customer needs your store would be an example to others. I urge you to remove your automated self check out and your automated phone service as a beginning step to improving the store. I would make sure there were more people like Tom or to make sure that Tom trains the people you hire to work those registers. I would encourage you to give people like Jen and Tom authority to “whip the bad employees into shape.” Bad work ethic and bad customer service should not be tolerated. I hope my words will find you well and both challenged and encouraged at your store has problems which can be fixed by reverting back to the old ways which worked so well. Your store needs a good employees and fewer computer automations. Bad work ethic and bad customer service should not be tolerated.
