Q:Can I use this cable for a submersible pump drop cable, since it is rated THWN-2, and all that is required for a submersible pump drop cable is THW? The "N" just adds a nylon outer coating which should provide more abrasion resistance than the THW.

Questionable

Good concept, but can’t recommend. Ordered online from Home Depot, arrived in what appeared to have been rewrapped and possibly pilfered. No factory shrink wrap, just some Saran Wrap, and a cobbled together packaging that was clearly previously removed. How is someone to know if let’s say 10ft or 50ft was already cut from the roll, without unrolling all 250ft? We needed to move the job forward so we proceeded to pull the wire through conduit. The wire appeared scuffed and was exposed in an area.

Perfect for the small wiring project

Conveniently packaged for short runs (50 feet or less), this cabled three conductor THHN, 12 AWG Solid Copper construction eliminates the need to set up separate spools/racks. The material is double overwrapped on the spool. A shrink-wrapped outer layer with manufacturer and product description and an inner stretch-wrapped film to keep the wire from unspooling. UL Listing mark appears both on the outer shrink wrap and a tag applied to the spool itself. Each of the conductors (Black/White/Green) are surface printed with wire type and size, voltage rating and flammability rating. Although the spool packaging indicates type THHN, the surface printing on the conductors indicated THHN/THWN-2. The conductors cut cleanly and were easily formed. The insulation stripped easily and cleanly. This packaging will be very convenient for small wiring projects.

Wire for Conduit Projects

Hard to go wrong with wire. Ready for conduit wiring. Easy to work with. Everything is as expected for copper wiring. Note that the stamping on the wire is for THHN/THWN-2. This is good as the THWN is useful in more applications. My only suggestion is to go with a bigger roll so that you don't run out of wire. Very convenient package for a small project!

I need to add an outlet out by the garden to power electric fence, etc. Existing GFI 120 VAC 20 amp ckt will provide power. Need to bury some PVC to pull the wire thru. Conduit will run under the path that the utility tractor frequents, so will be schedule 80 in this location. I didn't think I could use this THHN wire as need something with a W in for this application. But when this wire arrived, the insulation says, "THHN/THWN..." so I am way more than happy. Very convenient package! It beats having 3 spools of wire to do a small job. I had left a review in the general area but now am able to do a SEEDs review.

Excellent Choice for Three-Conductor Applications

This 50 foot spool of three-conductor 12 gauge insulated solid copper wire is perfect for use in a conduit. The insulation is oil and gasoline resistant and can be used for appliance wiring according to its labeling (see picture). It is colored white, black and green (see picture). The spool has a center hole that would accommodate a dowel for unraveling the wire very easily (see picture). I highly recommend this wire and spool for any application requiring three insulated 12 gauge conductors.

Great for non-exposed applications

This 50 foot roll of 12/3 wire from Cerrowire is great for pigtails, conduit runs, etc. It should only be used in enclosed environments (conduit, electrical boxes, etc.) for 15 and 20 Amp circuits. The plastic reel has three 12 gauge wires (black, white and green) twisted together so they do not separate which helps ensure an easy pull. The insulation stripped off easily with a standard tool. I was able to bend the pure copper wire as expected and attach it to an electrical outlet with no problems. It supported an electrical load as expected. If you are running wire in conduit, this is a much better solution compared to Romex cable and it is less expensive.

A Great Value

Great Value. I needed some wire for an indoor wiring project and found this spool of exactly what I needed. I’ll have some wire left over from the 50 feet of wire on the spool but a little extra wire in the toolbox is always something you should have quick access to anyway. The wire was easy to work with and was easy to thread through the conduit. Overall, I am happy with this product and would recommend.

Great for running inside electrical conduit.

The Cerrowire 50 foot spool is 3 strands of coated 12 gauge (AWG) solid copper wire all twisted together without an outer protective covering or jacket, as provided by Romex cable, however the ground does have it’s own coating. This configuration of 3 wires wrapped together, also called 12/2 with Ground, makes running wire inside a conduit much easier. This wire is not to be used without being inside of a conduit, per code. This is used for running electric wire inside an electrical 1/2 inch diameter or larger conduit. Each strand is color-coded: Black for power supply, White for the return, and Green for ground. The 12-gauge solid CU THHN wire is rated for 120 volt 20 Amp service. Proudly made in the USA.

Makes pulls easy

Cerrowire 50 ft. 12/3 Black/White/Green Solid CU THHN Wire. I like the concept of placing all three wires on one spool. When I pull multiple wires from multiple spools they often get tangled or snag. I have spooled the multiple wire pull when it is a short distance but it takes time and an empty spool and still can result in snags. Having all three on the spool and twisted together makes the pull very easy. The 50 foot make up in this package is still easy to handle in a small spool.

Great Wire!

This Cerrowire 50 ft. 12/3 Black/White/Green Solid CU THHN Wire comes on a plastic spool. The wires are twisted together, making for easy pulling in conduit. This wire is less expensive than Romex making it an economical choice when you have conduit. Like all Cerro products, it is of high quality. I found it easy to work with. Great for 20 Amp circuits. A super product!
