Does this Range have broil capabilities?
Asked by: Richard
Yes it does.

the model description says 30in wide but when I went to the store it says 31.5 wide "actual size". Can you explain?

Asked by: marisa
I believe the extra 1.5 inches take into account the lip that rests on/above the countertops.

MY OPENING IS ONLY 29INCHES WILL THIS UNIT FIT ????

I HAVE REMOVED A WHIRPOOL CONVECTION RANGE & THE MATCHING MICROWAVE IS STILL IN PLACE, iT ONLY MEASURES 29 INCHES, WILL THIS SLIDE IN RANGE FIT IN THE OPENING I HAVE ??
Asked by: DIVERLES
No, it's 30" wide. You would have to widen the opening. It's a tight fit even for the correct size opening.

Yes, there is a "bake" mode, a "broil" mode, and at least two (2) convection modes. Convestion does not have to be used all the time.

We bought this slide in range after reading all the fabulous reviews- we've had it for about a week. It LOOKS beautiful and the oven works perfectly-- after finally having the correct range delivered. With that said, if you actually COOK regularly, as opposed to admire it from afar, you will have to be very careful of scratches. There's some sort of underlay that looks like teeny dots under the surface, and they are extremely sensitive. I moved a 12' saute pan of scrambled eggs off the front burner and was horrified to see a HUGE scratch that is UNDERNEATH the glass-- the little dots somehow got disrupted. It's not fixable and looks terrible. And forget setting a hot baking sheet down on the surface after pulling it out of the oven. I did that ONCE and it left a big mark. I'm not rough on my appliances, and this never happened with my old flat-top range from GE, which I've already donated. I'm terribly disappointed. For this kind of money, I expected a lot better quality.

The first range we received was defective. (scratched control pad, reversed control knob, and defective door) The second range appears to be working well so far. The oven does cook a bit faster just on the normal setting but other than that we have not experienced any complications. The black smooth top does show spots very easily so I recommend cleaning it after every use and only using cookware recommended for a smooth top cooking surface. If you are looking for a range that makes a nice statement in your kitchen then I would recommend the stainless GE Slide-In Electric Range.

Shelves do not slide well and would prefer a handle on the drawer. This design allows particles to collect in pull-out well. Also, be aware that putting a hot lid on the stove top, where it is cool can actually suction the glass up. This is how our Profile range top shattered. It cost as much to replace a glass top as it does to by a new range. Something should be done about this. Very wasteful and bad for our landfills.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very pleasing to the eye We bought this as our last appliance that needed replaced in our kitchen. So far we love it. pros: beautiful convection feature knobs in the front so you don't have to reach for them over boiling water all the features for cooking you could almost want heat element protected from spills steam cleans with water you can use inner ring for small pots option which saves energy cons: flimsy bottom drawer heat exhaust in the front blows on you ( though probably nice feature in winter ) cook top not easily cleaned hardwired so you need to buy a not included plug for outlet fan blows for quite a while after turning oven off

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dream come true! I'd been looking forward to replacing my old range for years, so when it finally gave up the ghost recently, I was amazed to find so many choices available with fantastic new features! I always check first with Consumer Reports for their ratings on almost everything I buy, and when I read that GE appliances rated as the most reliable brand? I focused entirely on their models. When I found their slide-in range with convection oven and both steam and traditional self-cleaning features; five burners with so many heating options, and by far, the most attractive appearance, I had found my dream come true! Four months later, I am still in love with every single feature of this range, and would recommend it above any other choice.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never Again Installed in February and oven panel died in August. I enjoyed the stove and the way it was made until this happened. Realize anything can break and warranty should be good but what I hate is it took a week for serviceman to get here to look at it and then (unlike other companies) GE will not allow him to get the part but he has to put in the request and they have to approve before sending it for him to fix - thus at lease 3 weeks without an oven on a new product. I will never buy anything GE again and you would be wise not to also!!!And by the way, Home Depot is no help, had a difficult time getting it installed by HD and now this. Never again!

We also bought new cookware based on that stated as "preferred" in the user manual to provide the best protection from scratches and/or blemishes on the cook top surface and it was easy to adjust to cooking temp settings and time with the new range and cookware. My wife is totally delighted and I enjoy cooking with it too. (she trusts me...LOL)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Stove Overall, a good stove for the money. I find that it bakes evenly and consistently so far. The top is easy to clean and heats up very quickly. I find that this stove boils water much quicker than a previous model I had. Things I don't like about the stove are that the knobs on the front feel cheap and are not tight when you turn them. They have quite a bit of play in them. There is a learning curve to the oven controls...if you put in a temperature and don't press start then of course it won't start heating up. I have done this on many occasions only to come back an hour later and realize I never started the oven.
