My purchase of the 5.0 CU FT. High- Efficiency Top Loader washer in white, Energy Star, does not have a center agitator. However, the new washer is a mixed bag, when it works my wife and daughter claims it washes well for a family of 7. Home Depot, Beaumont, TX has been very supportive and demanded a new washer when the first one did not operate properly after it was delivered. The second one operated well for about 8 months then started having problems. The last of 5 technicians that have worked on the washer found the problem, a screw on the back panel had penetrated a control wire. All work has been done under the manufacture's warranty and it was extended for 6 months. The Home Depot's protection plan was used once and I will be sending a complaint letter to Home Depot regarding the lack of service. Read Less

Thank you for asking, I didn't. There is NO agitator. It sort of sloshes back and forth. You will only be able to load 1/4 to 1/3 the clothes you are used to loading. Because they now have sensors somewhere inside, it will not dispense enough water to cover the clothes. It does spin very well.
I have had to do some loads 2-3 times more because they didn't come clean and also have come out of the washer

I have had to do some loads 2-3 times more because they didn't come clean and also have come out of the washer with completely dry areas in the folds.
The machine is being replaced by a Speed Queen.

Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. This washer does not have an agitator, it has an infuser which is not as tall as an agitator. If you wish to have a tall agitator, you might want to look at Model #GTWN5650FWS. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Yes, always use HE detergent. Too 'sudsy' of a detergent will result in clogged lines and foam-covered clothes.

Hello from GE,
Use of High Efficiency detergent is best but you may use regular detergent. Be sure to use very small amounts, particularly if you have soft water. Over-use of detergent can cause over-sudsing and leaks. Thank you for checking.

Yes , use HE detergent. But you don't use as much as you would a normal washer. Too much soap is not good for the clothes.

Hi EMK1984, GE only recommends using High Efficiency detergent with this model. The detergent is highly concentrated, you will use less and and is better for the operation of the machine.

Put the HE detergent in the bottom of the drum before you add the clothes. If using liquid, you can rub a small amount on a specific hard to clean stain and throw that in the washer.

You measure it and pour it out into the bottom of the inside of the washer before adding the clothes. I usually pour my out in a circle around the bottom. There is no separate dispenser for the liquid detergent.

Hi-this is Sue from GE. Thanks for your purchase! Add the liquid laundry detergent to the washer basket before adding the items so that the detergent can work effectively. See pages 4, 7 and 8 of the owner's manual for complete instructions at the following link:

Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you.
These two washers are basically the same model. The GTWN7450HWW replaced the GTWN7450DWW so the GTWN7450HWW is the newer of the two models. If there are any differences between the two models, they would be very minor and unnoticeable.
I hope this helps! Thank you for checking with us!

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 469 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Waste of money We bought this washer a little over a year ago. It says that it is 'antivibration' but the reality is that is shakes like an old truck when spinning, from day one. I check the level, several times, and it was perfect. A few months with it, it began to make noise also when spinning. The noise grew with time and today it is a deafening roar, like a plane departing. We brought a tech, he says that the transmission is busted. To change it, it costs almost like a new washer. But once the transmission is changed they have to check that the motor is Ok, if not it has to be changed too. So, a waste of money. I would like to know if this is a design flaw or if we just gain the bad washer 'lottery'. I guess I will never know. June 22, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Junk Washer If I had realized this washer "controlled" the water levels I would never have bought it. The cloths never get clean enough because there isn't enough water. We have to "adjust" almost every load because it becomes unbalanced when spinning. The soap never gets throughly rinsed out, because the machine will take a towel or sheet & stretch it over the top of everything in the load. It is no wonder this machine is not manufactured anymore. June 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best of the washers I bought this washer more than 1 year ago, with its duet Gas dryer. Product is awesome, huge capacity, very good options to select from. I liked the product very much and we use it almost every other day. May 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great washer We Bouvet this washer a couple of months ago. It is quiet, has several features including energy efficient settings. The only negative is the inability to increase the alarm volume when the cycle end April 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent HUGE washer, reallyl quiet I bought this washer to replace a similar one that I passed down to my son. The first one was about 7 years old, still working perfectly. This new washer is fantastic!!! It is quite easy to use and the tub is extremely deep. I am tallish at 5'08" and have to lean over to get to the bottom of the tub! It's not a problem for me, but I can see how it might be a problem for others. This is my third HE top loading washer. The first was a Kenmore and the cycles lasted well over an hour each time. The second (mentioned above) was faster, but we never knew how close it was to finishing. this model has a countdown clock which enables you to know when the load will be done. I live on a farm, so we have really dirty clothes, towels and blankets. This machine handles it with east, getting things clean. Features on this machine that are excellent include the easy to clean top (under the lid). There are no nooks or crannies to hold dirt! The metal is smooth and continuous. The softener and bleach pour in spots have not rims, so it all stays really clean! The beeper that sounds when the load is done is definitely not irritating like most washers--- a gentle do-do-de-doo is all! May 1, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!! Leaves detergent on clothes. Poor wash.Still dirty. March 29, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by large capacity it works and handles large loads. Better than a front load washer. April 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Decision Quiet operation and easy to use and good timing between units i start washer and dryer and they finish with seconds to reload , i will recommend this model to all my family and friends January 13, 2015
