Dryer vent locations

Where exactly on the dryer are the dryer openings that the vent hose can connect to? Rear I am sure, but up? Down? Left? Right? What are my options?

And do I need to know which vent option I intend to use when I buy it, or is that something I can decide later.?

How does a customer change the vent option if necessary?

Not an answer but a follow-up question about the rear vent. Where is it located on the dryer?
1. Bottom or Top?
2. Left, center or right (as you face the REAR of the dryer?

Answer:
Hi MRCFM,
This dryer only comes from the factory set up for rear venting.
It may also be vented from the left or right sides with an adapter kit, which is available from GE. This is an owner installed kit.

It is. But you may have to put it through two cycles. My Queen comforter came out a little damp in spots after 60 minutes on high heat setting. Had to run it through for another 40 minutes before it was completely dry.

Hello Fran,
We no longer rate our dryers in pounds because it is deceptive to a degree. We recommend visual determination when judging both washer and dryer laundry loads.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 63 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not buy I have had this dryer for about three years now and it has been trouble from the start. There are periods where it works great and times it is terrible. The lint trap is the worst feature of this machine. Lint gets stuck under the trap and goes down into the machine itself. I have tried many times to clean it out and nothing I do helps. I am currently dealing with it over heating and shutting itself off mid cycle. My cloths are coming out damp and taking a long time to dry. I am very dissapointed with this purchase and I am currently looking for a dryer to replace this one. I would not recommend this dryer to anyone. Save your money for a better machine. March 9, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great little dryer but snagged my clothes I am now enjoying this dryer but had a bad experience in the beginning. Jagged pieces of plastic on the inside canister snagged my first load of clothes. I felt around inside the dryer and found the plastic was sloppily manufactured. I snipped off the jagged places, and filed them down. I have not had a problem since, but still ... unacceptable. It's a nice machine that does a good job drying clothes. The settings are not too simple and not too complex. I like them. Good price and I can pretty much tell it to dry my clothes however I want. I would give it 5 stars if not for the snagged clothes. Overall I would recommend it, but check the inside for jagged plastic before you use it. January 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Stay away The dryer worked fine for 21 months, but then.... Here's what happened. I pushed the start button and the dryer started. I took my finger off the start button and it stopped. I tried various settings but the same thing kept happening. So I called GE service. They want $99.95 to "diagnose" the problem, then an unknown amount of additional money for labor and parts to fix it. No wonder they only have a one-year warranty on the dryer. I guess they make a lot of money repairing their products that conveniently break down soon after the warranty expires. I'll find a local repair person instead and stay away from GE products in the future. July 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by who needs all the bells and whistles I read a review before buying this dryer - and the person had asked their repairman what make/model he recommended...he said get something simple, skip the bells and whistles because those break more often and are more expensive to fix. That seemed like sound advice So that is what we did. We bought a simple dryer that does what we ask it to do (dry my clothes) quickly and efficiently. It is big enough for a queen size quilt or duvet. The buzzer to signal it is done is loud enough we can hear it from upstairs. We've only had it for a few weeks now so we hope we'll feel the same way about this dryer in ten years. Good deal for the money. December 4, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works great The dryer works great, clothes come out nice...I feel the accessories are cheaply made, the timer knob is broken! Don't have a lot of funds to buy a more expensive dryer, would have if I could. The drum is not metal, which I didn't realize, but overall it works fine... November 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what we needed and exceeded our expectations! We bought a GE washer and this matching gas dryer around Dec 1st, 2014. We looked at quite a few from different makers but settled on these because of their shallower depth compared to most, the fact that the dryer could easily be vented from inside down thru the floor, and the GE reputation. We have a small 1st floor space to work with and these units were perfect for that. We have been completely satisfied in all respects. The units are trim and good-looking, sound level is quite low compared to others we've owned, drying performance is fine and it makes very little noise, which was a major drawback of our previous dryer. February 19, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Not pleased with delivery Product was as described. Have ordered it before and have no issues with looks or performance. January 13, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by The lint trap is inferior and problematic I could tell you about the features of this dryer, but you might as well stop here. The lint trap is the worst feature of this dryer. The plastic fitting does not fit well (it gets warped). Lint is trapped in the filter, but also goes down inside of the hole where the lint trap is. Also, lint builds up to a grimy mess just above the gasket and where the door aligns with the lint trap. With the moisture and the closed doors, my inside of my dryer got black. There are only two of us (retired) in the house, no pets, no smoking and I've had the dryer for two months and I would recommend that you look elsewhere. Don't get stuck with this dryer for the next 10 years. September 17, 2014
