Hello,
This is Michelle with GE and I am sorry to hear of this issue with your dishwasher. Please see the following troubleshooting suggestions for this drain issue:
1) Some water, usually one to two cups, remaining in the bottom of the tub is normal. However, if water is covering the bottom of the tub, the dishwasher is not draining properly.
2) Check for paper or large objects covering or blocking the sump area in the rear of the tub.
3) Make sure that the right type and amount of detergent is used: Using the wrong type or too much detergent can cause sudsing that can prevent the dishwasher from draining. Only detergent specifically designed for automatic dishwashers such as Electrasol, Cascade or Cascade Complete should be used.
4) Check disposer plug. If a garbage disposer has been recently installed, it is possible the disposer drain plug was not removed. The drain plug is a plastic piece in the disposer that blocks the hole where the dishwasher hose connects. In the Installation Instructions, will be the procedure for removal of the drain plug. You may also check with the installer.
5) Be sure the kitchen sink drain is not clogged. The dishwasher typically drains into the kitchen sink drain or a garbage disposer. If the dishwasher drains into a garbage disposer, run the disposer to clear the drain system. Do not put hands into the garbage disposer. Serious injury could result. You should always turn on your garbage disposer prior to running the dishwasher to clean out any food or debris within the drain system.
6) Check the drain hose where it connects below the sink for blockage or a kink in the hose. New dishwashers come with a white corrugated drain hose, which should be used. Re-using old, worn out drain hoses may promote kinking and blockage. If it is necessary to extend the length of the drain hose, the total length should not exceed 144" (12 ft). Be sure the extension used is not kinked or crushed. See your dishwasher installation instructions for details.
7) Check the air gap if one is installed. It could be clogged. An air gap (not part of the dishwasher) is usually located on top of the sink.
If the above suggestions do not resolve the issue, service may be needed. If you would like to schedule a service appointment, please contact GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737.

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 1758 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by What's Not to Like??? I've owned this dishwasher for 4 months. I was a little concerned about purchasing it based on some of the negative comments. Having had the dishwasher in use for some time now, I can't figure out what the heck there is not to like! Maybe I expect too little. I rinse off the dirty dishes in the sink; I punch in "normal" wash settings; an hour or so later, my dishes, cups and silverware are clean. The dishwasher is much quieter than the one I replaced. I don't have a need to use a "drying agent" in addition to regular detergent. It has worked wonderfully for our family of 5. Bottom line: Very Good appliance at a great price that performs as it should. What's not to like?? January 31, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Spend the extra money We've had this model for about six months now and I honestly wish I had spent the extra money on a better model. The dishes frequently come out dirty and the silverware is often not clean either. It is fairly quiet compared to the last model we had but that is about the only positive I have for this. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst appliance, worst experience, terrible customer service Let's see here. This appliance has one job to do: wash dishes. Well, it kind of cleans them, about 60% of the way. After three weeks of giving it the benefit of the doubt, we called to find a solution. GE customer service sends a technician out, he says it's operating "as designed". Apparently "as designed" for this unit equates to "kind of halfway working". GE customer service round two solution: send another technician! Sediment in the bottom of the washer. Dishwasher fluid or Cascade Actionpacs do not dissolve all the way. Which is pretty inconvenient for Cascade, considering their logo is branded right on to the pack slot. Unfortunately Home Depot can't help, it's the manufacturer's responsibility. Run away from this one. Just a disaster on all fronts. A brand new appliance should not be a project or a problem. I gave it five stars on energy efficiency. I'd guess it's so efficient because it just doesn't use any energy. At all. May 28, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not sure yet The installers took the dish washer out of the box before the got it out of the truck. they left the new sound product material in the truck and used the old 15 year old one. I guess they can sell it on the side. they didn't know how to operate it. When I talked to the sales person before we purchaced it she said the top rack was adjustable. mine has a place for the extra wheel but no wheel. I have had it only 1 week. I used it once it took about 1 hour 15 minutes. A lot longer than my old one. I will see how it works after about 3 months or more. December 4, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NEEDS CONSTANT REPAIR I purchased this a year ago it has been serviced 3 times. Once for a broken electronic board during the 1st week. The second time because the top arm fell off. The 3rd time because of a leak. Guess what the top arm fell off again yesterday. That makes 4 service calls in 15 months. There was nothing touching it. My wife was loading the bottom. It might be a factory defect. If you purchase this by the 5 year guarantee or you'll be paying for all the service that this piece of junk needs. It also runs for about 3 hrs to wash a load. How is that energy efficient? October 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solidly performing dishwasher. Home Depot's delivery and Install team were efficient. The dishwasher is solidly built and works as advertised, especially using the little packets of dish washing soap provided with the machine. A new feature we discovered is that after starting a load of dishes, if you open the door for any reason (e.g., add a dish or cup, etc) one needs to push the "Start" button before closing the door, otherwise, the wash cycle does not continue. Other than that, operation is straight forward and we are pleased with the results after several weeks of regular usage. October 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value Cleans well. Very quiet (as quiet as our $800 Kenmore was). I don't like the silverware racks. Locations are fine but they are cumbersome to lift out off of their hooks and the compartments are strangely sized. Still, the silverware gets clean - so no harm no foul... Not many features, but we replaced it with a unit that had lots of features and we pretty much only used on of them. Lots of plastic components on this, so longevity is a question. Talk to me in 8 years and I'll let you know how it lasted. As of now, we are completely satisfied though. October 15, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Cleans dishes well Since I shopped & ordered solely on line, I was a little surprised at how "cheap" feeling dishwashers have gotten since my last purchase about 10 years ago. Pretty much everything that can possibly be made out of plastic IS... including the main motor housing. It's generally quiet, but the motor does make a little whine that older, more powerful motors didn't. But overall, it's probably even quieter than the older ones, all other things being equal. I'm generally satisfied; I like the rinse feature, and the "light load" cycle. I just hope it lasts me at least 8 years. June 4, 2013
