However, the unit comes with its own vent hose which is attached to the back of the dryer and the hose has one end that has an "elbow" attachment which is removable, leaving you with an 8 ft long stretchable/collapsible vent hose that could easily be vented to the outdoors if you had an appropriate hole in the wall to the outside. I had to use the "elbow" attachment to connect the vent hose to a small box in which water is absorbing the lint from the dryer because of the indoor venting option I have. Good luck! Read Less

I would really like to purchase this unit to replace an 18 yr old GE unit, but have read numerous reports of the dryers on this (and smaller) GE "Laundry Center" units leaving black grease marks on clothing/sheets/etc. This seems to be a very widespread issue and has been reported by reviewers for a couple of years, yet I continue to see new reviews with the same complaint.

Maybe you could ask GE about this. The unit is under warranty so, this may be a special issue. My unit never did this so, I wouldn't know, sorry.

I've not had any black grease marks on my clothes. I did run the dryer through an initial very hot cycle before I used it. Don't know if that helped or not.

I understand that rinse temperature is ALWAYS cold on this model. Could I add hot water to the rinse?

Answer:
I don't believe so: I actually prefer cold rinse temperature to save energy on heating water. I like very much the option to select "heavy" load option for the extra large loads or, loads of more soiled clothes. The washer and dryer work beautifully!

Answer:
Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. All of the rinse temperatures in washers today are cold. Cold water helps to cut oversudsing
action and assists in soap removal. Further, this is one of the important features that helps this washer/dryer combination unit meet Energy Star requirements. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

With what GE charges for this unit, why can't they add a buzzer like some cheaper modles of other brands ?

If you listened carefully, the washer does a double click at the end of the cycle. The dryer just stops and you can hear it easily. I had a Frigidaire unit before and it beeped at the end of the cycle. It also beeped at 3 o'clock in the morning when it felt like it... I HATED it!

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 286 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Would not buy again I have owned this machine for just over 1 year. The first machine did not make it off the truck. I sent it back. The second machine, so far I have replaced the mother board, the tub, the transmission and the sinning cycle mechanism. Do not purchase. I am just glad I had the warranty to cover all of these expenses. Next time something goes wrong, it is going to the scrappers. if they will take it. October 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 18 months in - Tub is leaking Incredibly disappointed in this expensive purchase with a poor, one year warranty. Seems that GE doesn't stand behind their appliances anymore. Tub is leaking after only 18 months. Poorly constructed and expensive piece of equipment. September 18, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Problem with drum I have used this washer for only 2 months and I have a problem with a piece of some type of trim coming off the top of the drum. This washer came with a brand new condo unit I just purchased. I will hold of my review until I get this issue resolved August 28, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible performance. Has never worked well This appliance came with the apartment I bought a year ago. It has been a horrible headache since day 1 August 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Good Reason To Discontinue - I bought this unit from GE and have had 7 service calls to this date and another one next week. It was delivered in March 2016 and has not worked right yet. The problem is the dryer leaves black marks on my whites and since the last service call it has developed a rattle. GE said they would not replace it at this time. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GE PRODUCT AGAIN!!!!!!!! July 7, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Less Than 6 Mos. Old and 7 Service Calls I would not suggest anyone buying this as the dryer leaves black marks on my laundry. As of this writing I am once again doing a load of whites to see if it is fixed. I am very unhappy with this product and the time I have spent with repair people. July 15, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Washer Dryer ever I purchased this product through Home Depot and it has broken down 3 times in less than 2 years. It frequently will not drain during the wash cycle and any trouble shooting suggestions provided by service representatives do not work. I have had the washer repaired three times and it appears that it was designed to fail. Each repair has been a temporary fix. This product has been discontinued and I can understand the reasons why. I find it difficult to understand how the product every received a high rating at the time of purchase. April 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very pleased with unitized washer/dryer The washer has a large tub. Resist the urge to overload, especially with heavy items (towels). It can go out of balance, however, the machine has built in feature to stop the cycle so you can remove/re-distribute if necessary. Great dryer. We separate light items first - done in a few minutes, then let the heavier items go for longer. Again, don't overload heavy items - 5 towels max to ensure they can toss and fluff. Very acceptable minimal noise factor for both washer and dryer. Definitely recommend this product. August 4, 2013
