It does have low temp and no heat settings. It also has a wrinkle free auto cycle with cool down. It does not have all the bells and whistles of my previous dryer, but at less than half the cost. You get what you pay for I suppose. Great bargain if it lasts for ant length of time.

On this dryer the hinges are on the right, so It opens from the left to the right. I have it up against the wall, and and it works well. I have a small area to work with. If you need it to have hinges on the left and open from right to left, this will not work in your space. Good Luck with your search.

Why is this dryer taking 2 hours to dry an average load of laundry?

This question is from 6.0 cu. ft. Electric Dryer in White
Asked by

July 25, 2013
I purchased this set about 2 months ago when I bought my house. I had not hooked them up because the house had absolutely awful well water that was causing everything that came in contact with it to corrode. I fixed the water problem and set up the washer/dryer. The washer is great, but the dryer takes about 2 hours to dry an average load, no matter what setting I use. Unfortunately, it is too late for me to return it. I was told by GE customer service that the dryer takes 45 minutes to determine the dampness of the load and then it will start drying. I explained to her that not only was this on all cycles (not just the more/less dry), but also that it seems impossible that anyone would produce or buy a dryer that runs for 45 minutes before drying. I think she must have been mistaken. She said if the heat comes on and the dryer dries that I do not need a service call. This is ridiculous! What am I supposed to do with this brand new dryer?!?

Answer:
My dryer dries a load in about 45 minutes. What the rep told you is ridiculous. I would guess the problem is either that your venting is crimped, clogged, or some other such problem, & needs to be replaced with new venting, or you are putting very large loads into it. The clothes must have room to move around in order to dry in a reasonable amount of time.

I have had no problems with this dryer and it certainly does not take 45 minutes for the drying process to take place. It only takes about 45 minutes to dry about 7 pairs of jeans. I would call home depot and talk with them and have them send someone out to fix the problem because there IS A PROBLEM. I really love this dryer. I have had it about 7 months and have never had a problem like this.

You definitely need a service call. I have this same dryer and the clothes dry in an appropriate amount of time. We have alot of denim and t-shirts so I usually put it on cotton and "more dry." It's very quiet and efficient. Keep pushing for them to fix or replace. I hope this helps.

I need to clean the lint trap after 30 minutes or mine takes a long time to dry clothes. Try that and if it still takes too long, you might have a bad heater coil. It shouldn't take 45 minutes to determine the dampness of the clothes.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed I purchased this dryer and it takes forever for clothes to dry! Disappointed! May 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice dryer Works efficiently and doesn't take up too much space, yet it can still fit and dry large large loads of laundry. This dryer is 10 times quieter than my old GE dryer and doesn't have an alarm indicating the dryer has finished, which I personally enjoy. Now I can run my unit at night before I go to bed and not be kept awake by it or woken up by an annoying alarm. February 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product for the price This is a pretty basic unit, perfect for my apartment. It's a bit smaller than most units and doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but it's a quality product. January 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This product fits the bill! With a new baby on the way, we needed a dependable washer/dryer combo in our upstairs apartment. Delivery was not available within our zip code range but with help we got it into place and hooked it up ourselves. Within an hour, we were doing laundry! January 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice quiet dryer at a great price Delivery and installation was a snap. Dryer is very quiet and dries loads much faster than our older dryer. January 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Well Done I bought this dryer a few months ago and I must say it is a very good dryer for the money that I paid for it. The only issues that I see with it. Is the clothes do come out very wrinkled if you do not remove very quickly and the lint filter is very cheaply made and lets lint get by and goes underneath to base of dryer. You can not go wrong if you buy this dyer. January 10, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Hotpoint 6.0 CU. FT. Dryer I bought this dryer to replace another Hotpoint 6.0 CU FT dryer due to my limited space and this size fits the bill. I read reviews prior to purchasing it and many people said it took a long time to dry. I have noticed this model does take longer to dry my clothes than the previous model - sometimes I have to run it in 2 cycles. Overall, it's fairly quiet and does get the clothes dry. The price was very reasonable, so I guess you get what you pay for. I would recommend this product for someone with limited space and a limited budget who doesn't care about lots of fancy settings. The free delivery was also a nice feature. October 13, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by perfect depth for smaller spaces Very basic model with 3 heat settings (no heat, heat and high heat) and no buzzer. Would have given the dryer 5 stars if it had a 'low heat' setting and a buzzer. However, this dryer is less than 26 inches deep, which makes it perfect for smaller spaces (my laundry closet is only 29 inches deep). Almost all other dryers that are sold at Home Depot (with the exception of some GE models and one extremely overpriced LG model) are at least 29 inches deep, which in my case would leave no room for the duct.
