NEED TO KNOW IF THIS IS A 110 OR FOR A 220 OUTLET

Why is this dryer taking 2 hours to dry an average load of laundry?

I purchased this set about 2 months ago when I bought my house. I had not hooked them up because the house had absolutely awful well water that was causing everything that came in contact with it to corrode. I fixed the water problem and set up the washer/dryer. The washer is great, but the dryer takes about 2 hours to dry an average load, no matter what setting I use. Unfortunately, it is too late for me to return it. I was told by GE customer service that the dryer takes 45 minutes to determine the dampness of the load and then it will start drying. I explained to her that not only was this on all cycles (not just the more/less dry), but also that it seems impossible that anyone would produce or buy a dryer that runs for 45 minutes before drying. I think she must have been mistaken. She said if the heat comes on and the dryer dries that I do not need a service call. This is ridiculous! What am I supposed to do with this brand new dryer?!?

It shouldn't take that long, the one I bought doesn't. I would let Home Depot know.

Does this dryer has any special dry settings, such as energy savings dial, special clothing, such as silks and delicates?

Asked by: Anonymous
It has an autodry setting, which could be an energy saver if used correctly. It also has air fluff and wrinkle reduce at the end of medium heat cycle.

You have to use force to get the dryer to open. I called Home Depot and they did send out repair. Repair, which I have a video of, had to use force to open the door. They said it was made that way because previously the door was not latching on tight enough and clothes were not drying quickly. The new and "improved" model, now has the door so tight, a normal person has to work to get it open. It's not a repairable problem. Still shocked that this isn't a problem for more people since the repairman himself admitted it was hard to open.

I'm on load 4 and I have literally had to put this dryer to dry 3 times for one load to dry. Going to try with smaller loads (we wash weekly for three people and don't have a LOT of laundry) but we can't really go much smaller in our loads.

I hope it holds up, it's working fine now. The delivery team that Home Depot uses are the bottom of the barrel. They are rude and very unhelpful. They came in the rain and slopped up the house. They did not dry the floor or the appliance. Left is dripping. They were unable to answer even simple questions about hooking it up.

Bought this washer and dryer for my daughter, a working single Mom with two active teens, and she loves it! They fit perfectly in her laundry closet. The large tub in the washer has cut down on her loads and saved her much needed time. Since she has zero time for ironing, clothes coming out of the dryer unwrinkled is a real plus! I'm glad I could make her life a little easier.

It does the job without complaint. The machine is pretty quiet. My favorite feature is the lint trap situation. You do not have to remove a screen to clean. Just open the front door and swipe out the indentation. The only minor complaint is that the door closure is pretty tight... and the machine is light... so when you go to open the door, the machine pulls out. Not a big deal. I imagine with use this will resolve itself... or I can put my foot in front of the machine to keep it from sliding. Good deal. I would recommend.

Of course our old dryer decides to die just months before we list. Since we are not planning on living in this house much longer, we didn't want to spend a fortune on a replacement. We ended up finding this dryer on sale and cannot believe what a great purchase this was! It's fantastic! Looks nice with clean lines, heats REALLY well, runs quiet - what else could you ask for!?!? If you're not someone that needs to have the top of the line appliances - buy this dryer. You will not be disappointed!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Perplexed..... I purchased this dryer in August, 2013. Worked fine until a few weeks after the warranty ran out (1yr), then went out. Repairman replaced the fuse.....ran fine for another 9 months and went out again....same thing. The fuse again. This time I had a GE repairman come out. He couldn't find the reason the fuse kept blowing. So he replaced the fuse AGAIN! Now, today, July 10th, 2016, the dryer stopped again! I really don't think a dryer should have to be replaced after 3 years! But it keeps costing me at least $180 e Rey time I have to get a repairman out. Has anyone else had this problem? I hate to buy another dryer so soon, but what else can I do??
