my master put the template on the door while it was still in place, drilled four holes in the corners, broke out the jig saw and took a big chunk of wood out. then i watched him put the two halves together through the hole in the door and there it was with two windows two watch for squirrels through.
then my master showed me what is was really meant for and yippy skippy i don't have to bother him now to go or come outside.
i did notice that when the temperature got around 15 degree F. the plastic stiffened up just enough not to close correctly every time i went through other wise it really keeps the cold wind out and don't notice any draft coming through.
i'm a free doggy now, thanks master

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Megumi Great pet door!
This was a very easy project for me to do. I had just finished installing my French doors so this was a breeze compared to that project. All I needed was a Jig Saw with a steel cutting blade, a 3/8" diameter drill bit, painters tape, a tape measure, a small tube of silicone and a screw driver to install this pet door myself. All you have to do is center the template on the door, meet the minimum height requirements and verify that the template is level. Then completely tape the template on its outer perimeter in place so when you cut with the jig saw you do not scratch up the face of your door. Then drill the 8 3/8" holes into the door and cut out the opening for the pet door. I didn't use the recommended 1/2" drill bit because if you center the 3/8" drill on the center point of the hole on the template then the bolt will go all the way through the door and into the threaded insert on the outside pet door. Once I had the pet door installed I added silicone to a few area's that had a gap between the pet door seal and the detail design on the door to seal up any air gaps.
After installing the pet door I did have to remove the interior flap so my dogs could get use to going in and out of it and after one week I placed the second flap back on and they had no issues going in or out at that point.

Had a single door before and did not hold up to wind and rain! This keeps the weather out and the a/c in.
Mitze loves to come and go when she please's, thanks for a great product!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ztieskaz good w/ some short comings
The door is quality made. I have noticed one shortcoming, the door flaps lose their flexibility in cold weather and do not return to the closed position rapidly.
The selling price seems to be excessive..

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MBritt Great Purchase - our Dog loves her new door
My husband did the installation - it took a while as we installed in a metal door and had to buy a new saw blade. It took a couple of hours once we had the right tools.
The dual flaps keep all the air in the house - no breeze comes through. Our dog is 25 pounds and about 14 inches tall - perfect size. It only took her a day to get used to it. Love it !

In the past I had 3 pet doors for my house. When we moved, I had to find one that could withstand the Florida heat. This is one of the best pet doors I have purchased! The seals and the double flap are great!

I had a handy man install this door for me. He had no problems whatsoever. The total install took less than one hour. He said the directions were complete and easy to follow. The door looks fantastic! I am so glad I decided to do this.
