Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Communications mishap, but otherwise fine overall Bought the kit and the setup was straightforward. It's two vials you open and place in your basement elevated above the floor for four days, away from drafts and traffic. You record your start and end times/dates, close the vials, and ship prepaid envelope with the filled form. Note though there is an additional 30$ fee for the actual lab testing/results you can pay by cheque or credit card. Communications could have been clearer. They will send results via email and not via regular mail. In addition, they emailed my results to the wrong email address. I knew this because I waited six weeks until I finally gave them a call. They corrected it quickly and resent the results right away to my email address. Had I followed up sooner or they sent it to the right address, the lead time would have been a reasonable two weeks from the time I mailed the vials. Besides this hiccup and the additional lab fee, I recommend this important test be done in your home for added peace of mind. September 18, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Radon Test Kit I purchased the kit, followed the testing instructions and sent in the test kit along with my credit card payment using the envelope provided. After 4 weeks I have not received my results. I do not know if the lab did not receive their self addressed envelope or if the lab received it and did not process it. In any event, after 7 days the test results are void and the cost of the kit and time were wasted. I needed to buy another test kit to redo the test, but this time I purchased a different product from elsewhere as I did not want to repeat the same result. You can't even go back to Home Depot for a refund as you have nothing to return! Obviously, I am not recommending this product. August 13, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't buy this radon test kit! "Extremely disappointing. Test kit was mailed over 4 weeks ago, they deposited my $30 Lab analysis check and still no results. Customer service doesn't return your calls either. Radon Control is a much better alternative. Received my results a few days after they were mailed." December 18, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Item is not the same test kit as the picture shows The picture shown for this item is a long term alpha track test kit. In reality the item they are selling is a short term liquid scintillation test kit and not a device recommended by Health Canada. January 9, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Save your time and money I followed the instructions and planned the 96 hour test for a Wed to Sun so that I could mail out the units first thing Monday morning. Well, one month later and no word. Called prolab and spoke to 3 different people who had no idea what was going on. 4th person tracked down the package and said it was too late to test. Better luck next time! October 30, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Only one of three kits mailed were actually analyzed... We bought three kits for three rooms and mailed them all in on the same day. A week later we got notice that one of the three kits had been received by pro-lab. And another week later we got analysis results for that kit. Never heard back for the other two kits. I *know* the USPS doesn't lose 2 of 3 mails, so I have to assume pro-lab does. :-( October 30, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Zero results, No communication We followed the instructions included in the package & sent the canisters to Pro Lab. It arrived because our check for $30 was promptly cashed. Left numerous phone messages and sent an e-mail. We never received a return call or e-mail. Nor did we receive any results. In a second attempt my wife sent the canisters into Pro Lab. We received results with a notice that the test was invalid because the instructions were not followed. We checked the instructions which we had kept. Indeed we did follow the instructions on the package. Again we could not get a response from the company. July 14, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Victim of Fraud Like so many of the other reviewers, I purchased this kit and sent in the cannisters. That was over 6 months ago. They most certainly cashed my cheque... but lab results? Nope. Can't get a hold of anyone and emails have not been responded to. Like many others, I figured this product would AT LEAST respond with some kind of lab results... but they didn't even bother with that. How does this company have a branch in Canada at all...? how do they get away with what is essentially fraud? August 6, 2014
