Answer:
You can get more keys at Petsmart, Petco, Petsafe, or Amazon, but the chances of them working are minimal. I have 5 dogs so I bought 5 keys. We could only program 3 of them. Got another key at the store because they only have one in stock and didn't want to wait to order online. Couldn't program that one either even after talking to the petsafe people on the phone.

Answer:
Hi there, the Large Electronic SmartDoor™ PPA11-10709 cutout is just over 15" x 23". Be sure to use the included template to modify the cut-out, do not pre-cut. This door fits standard doors from 1 1/2" to 2" thick, the electronics and frame are too dense for a door that is 3/4" thin.

Hi Suzi, thanks for your question. You may be interested to know the PetSafe Electronic SmartDoor uses Electronic SmartKeys rather than collars to control access through the door. If you would like more information on the Electronic SmartKeys, please call PetSafe Customer Care at 1-800-732-2677.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great product, it works! We had our handy man install the doggy door in our metal backyard patio door a couple of months back. It was a noisy process with that particular patio door, but didn't seem to be difficult. The doggy door has been a God-send with our 4 month old puppy. After using treats to show her how to use the door, she was still timid of it hitting her in the back. We kept the door "unlocked' for a couple of weeks until we were sure she was comfortable with it. Then we worked over the weekend with the 'automatic' mode which requires the collar sensor to activate the door. It took about a week of working with the pup on and off for her to get used to the 'click' and the few second delay. Now she goes in and out like a pro and has not had an accident in over a month! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Awful I am so upset and frustrated. It's advertised you can program up to 5 smart keys that allow your dog to access the door while keeping your cats safe inside. I read in the reviews that it makes a loud noise when it unlocks which scares the dogs but that they get used to it. That I could have dealt with. Unfortunately our door only let's us program 3. We have tried 3 other brand new ones and can't get any of them to work. On top of that, when my dog does get close to it for it to unlock, it stays unlocked for 15 seconds which is more than enough time for my cat to wait for my dog to leave and then go through itself. Also when my dogs walk by it or lay on the couch that is close to it it unlocks and stays unlocked because the dog is close by so the cats can just go out any time. Moral of the story, I wasted a ton of time and money. I will be returning the door and all the smart keys. I can't however get back the $200.00 I paid to have it installed but at least my fiance knows how to repatch the wall. Biggest waste of time and money ever. If something is too good to be true it is! Don't ever buy this product. August 26, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NOT recommended for the active dog We got this dog door and were COMPLETELY disppointed! My dogs are two 70+ dogs that are very active. Within two weeks they had broken the door off it's hinges. If it were easily fixable, we would have jut put it back on. However, two of us tried to do it together and couldn't get the pegs lined up. It was impossible. We returned it thinking it was defective, ordered another one, and the next one did the SAME thing. I would not recommend this to large pet owners that are active and are not shy about jumping through their dog doors. They run through them and the swinging actually causes it to unhinge. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So far so good. Door was easy to install and operate. The range setting is a bit iffy however, it was easy to train my dog to wait for the click before trying to use the door. This has been an excellent tool to managing care for my dog. January 8, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by The key transmitter did not work I am anxious to use this door, but when the door came in, the transmitter did not sync with the door. I called PetSafe and they concluded that the battery in the key was dead. So I have to wait for them to send me a new one. PetSafe tech service was good though, so if you have a problem with the door, it's nice to know that they are very good with that aspect. Also, READ the instructions before you install. I almost installed the Pet door before making sure the door actually worked. Good thing I waited. MAKE SURE your door works before installing it. Everyone I have talked with that has this door, loves it, so aside from the key being dead (At least I hope that is actually the problem) the door is supposed to be superb. October 4, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great solution for pet entry and exit This pet door lets your pet control when the door locks and unlocks. It took our dog Scout about a week to learn the sound of the door...to know when the door was unlocked. The sound is a 'bang', so it lets my wife and I know when Scout is in or out too. We got the door to keep our cat in and still have free exit and entry for Scout. It has worked great ! We've had it two-three months. May 27, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DEFINITELY DISAPPOINTED I bought this door to keep the neighborhood pets from coming in my home while I am at work. Well, that part worked because they can't get in but my two dogs can't get out. The stupid thing stays in the locked mode and I can't change it. Also, the hard plastic door is not good. If I hold the door open for my shepherd mix, she'll use it but the door comes down and hits her in the back. I used to have a electronic door before that I loved, but they don't sell them anymore. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works great for cats and dogs This door is exactly what I was looking for in terms of size and convenience. It is big enough for dogs, but my cat uses it too. The only problem I have is that the transmitter is huge! I mean, it would probably be too big for a smaller dog...and it is certainly to big for my cat. I wonder if they make a smaller size one, but for now I just turn it to open when I want the cat to be able to go out and then automatic when it is time for him to come inside for the night.
