Do the cook top elements that have a line connecting them have the option of heating the space between the elements.?

I am considering buying this oven. I am interested in what looks like a pair of cook top elements that can be used in tandem. THe two elements are outlined and then there is an additonal outline forming an oval around both. The space inbetween the two looks like a convex lense. I am interested in being able to put a griddle on this and have it heat evenly. Can all three spaces be heated at once, or is the oval outline just decoration?
Asked by: cookless
Yes, there is an element connecting the two left burners, but I'm sure you've satisfied your question by now.

Question concerning locking top door

I have seen complaint that the top oven door locks and wont open after it reaches full temp. is this normal?
Asked by: Gil
My stove does not lock when reaching set temp. It only locks on the clean feature as a safety precaution. This is the fullest temp it can reach.

30 in. 5.9 cu. ft. Flex Duo Double Oven Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Dual Door Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 183.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Double Oven Is Awesome This Samsung double oven is great. To be able to use the single oven for small meals or use both on different temps is awesome. My wife loves it, she likes how the doors open up with just the one handle. The warming drawer is a nice feature also. As far as the cooktop goes the burners heat up very quickly. You will want to clean up spills quickly to avoid heavy cleaning. We haven't used the oblong burner feature yet but I'm sure it will come in handy. The only thing I would change is the warming center. I would rather have a 5th burner. Overall excellent design and product.

We bought this stove three months ago and found out at Christmas time that our 14lb turkey, after 5 hours of being in the oven at 350 degrees, was only half done. I read a review that suggested buying an oven thermometer and testing the operation of this oven. So I did and holly cow was I surprised to find out that when we selected a 350 degree temperature the pre-heat time bell would play at the 8 minute mark yet when I checked the oven thermometer it read only 225 degrees. I waited an additional 20 minutes, 28 in total, for the oven to actually reach the 350 degree mark. That is this ovens first fail. The second fail was that every time the oven door was opened to baste the turkey the oven temperature would fall down to around the 250 degree mark and it would take almost 30 minutes to get back up to the 350 degree mark. Just in time to baste the turkey again. So in all actuality a cooked turkey was not going to be on the menu for Christmas dinner. We had a repair man come in and duplicate the findings. He replaced the main computer board which did not fix the problem. He then replaced the PCI console board which did not fix the preheat problem but did better the reheat time when the door was opened for one minute from 30 minutes to 10 minutes. This was a onetime test by the repair man and I suspect that my next couple of test will confirm the original failures. In conclusion: This stove’s 350 degree preheat timer bell will ring at the 8 minute mark but the ovens actual temperature will be around 225 degrees. It will need an additional 20 minutes for the oven to reach the 350 degree mark totaling 30 minutes. This was the best test using the single oven convection bake option. The other smaller oven tests were much worse. This oven also cooks unevenly. The cookies at the back of the oven will cook sooner than the ones in the middle and front of the oven. “DON’T BUY THIS STOVE”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New stove, new capability The dual or single oven is quite interesting. We started using the upper oven, and because of the size it preheats much faster than the old oven. Burners work fine too, I found that Sur La Table (#2187029) has a griddle that is a good fit for this stove, the heat distribution looks good with my infrared thermometer, great for french toast or pancakes with a setting of 4 or 5 on the burners.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good stove but poor oven I wanted to like this product but I can't get over the oven. First, some minor things that annoy me are the buttons are hard to press and I find myself having to press them more than once; the timers don't go above 99 minutes so they can't be used if slow cooking for hours; and if you turn on the oven light and then open the door, the light goes off when the door is closed. My main concern, and I ignored other reviews, is the oven temperature. I've adjusted as much as I can and it is still off between 25-50 degrees. The best I can do is to operate the oven as a single oven which defeats the purpose of the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW I just installed this stove and I am amazed. It is heavier than I expected so make sure you have help if you decide to install yourself. The stove looks and feels well built. The rapid boil feature works well. One note for double oven users: using the stove in dual oven mode does seem to cook food faster due to the small space of each oven. Like any small oven one needs to compensate for this and lower the time and heat setting approx. 15 degrees to avoid overcooking/ burning ones meal. One will need to experiment with this to get used to the smaller oven. With the oven divider out and using the oven in regular size, there isn't an issue with overcooking and /or needing to adjust the heat and time. Yes it is pricey but you get what you pay for with this unit. Very pleased with this stove. Got to rework cabinets as I had a 40 inch unit previously.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally in love with this range! I live in a cozy historic home in Oregon and my kitchen layout is not typical. I was able to place this freestanding range in a recessed space originally designed to house a wooden oak ice box. I also placed a wall mounted microwave that vents above it. The cooking center and range work wonderfully. I find the double ovens cook accurately with the recommendations of my receipes as well as those on frozen baked items. I do check in the last 5 to 10 minutes just to be sure. Papa Murphy pizzas, one in each oven at different temperatures cook beautifully and generally on the fastest recommended times in the instructions. You can toggle the oven lights on and off easily to check without opening the doors. The push button handle that allows you to open just the top oven door alone is genius and I love the warming drawer, too. The ceramic top cleans easily with the special cleanser and all the burners perform as advertised. The controls look a bit daunting at first, but it only takes one reading of the instructions to master them. My only concern is finding a good quality griddle/pan to fit the bridged units of the cooktop. I wish the range had come with one as an optional purchase! If anyone has a suggestion, please post a review with a resource. I highly recommend this range and have enjoyed using all of the special features. I looked for a very long time for a double oven range and was fortunate to find this one at Home Depot and purchased it during a major sale. It is well worth it's price.

After delivery we noticed the temperature seemed to be off in the oven (both upper and lower). We purchased an oven thermometer and used it in both ovens several times to find the following: 1) While it seemed to preheat very quickly, after the pre-heat buzzer went off the temps were consistently 75 to 100 degrees cooler then pre-heated setting. 2) at regular intervals during the cooking processes, we found the temps in oven according to thermometer were anywhere from 25 - to 75 degrees cooler then set temp with 50 degrees being the most common difference. We called for a service call and was sent to the local repair company approved by Samsung. After telling them we were not available until a specific time of the day, we were scheduled for service within that unavailable time. I called service company and requested another time but they refused to schedule the service unless I provided them with a completely open day for them to schedule whenever it best suited them which I refused and they hung up on me. I then contacted Samsung requesting another service company but they said there was only the one company I had already talked to and there was nothing more they could do for me. This is not good customer service by either company, and with multiple repair companies in the Seattle area, I feel Samsung has dropped the ball completely by not authorizing another company to repair my one month old stove. I will not purchase any other Samsung product ever due to their lack of standing behind their product, which cost over $1,300.00! I will also tell all my friends, family and colleagues about Samsung's terrible product support and lack of customer service. Do not buy Samsung products!

Lots of nice features like the warming drawer and chime when temp is reached Very Flexible with the divider for the over Cons - Cooktop is hard to keep clean due to it being black and somewhat translucent. Everything shows up on it. Once it's dirty to get it looking clean and streak free takes a lot of effort. Our old range was a Maytag with a Glass Cooktop that was much easier to keep clean. Cooktop scratches much to easily. Cleaned it like I used to with my and it immediately had swirl marks in the top. Pots also seem to be scratching the top. The top just does not appear to be designed for normal wear and tear. Not Recommending because of this.
