Answer This Question
A: I used it as a primer over new drywall with new texture. I did that about 3 years ago and so far it has held up fine. I don’t know how well it works over 25 year old paint.

A: Its not the right product for painted walls. PVA Primer is formulated to soak into bare drywall. If applies to painted walls you might get some peeling. Use Kilz 2 or similar product for better bonding to painted walls.

A: This product is designed for drywall however it works well as a primer on plaster. The surface must be free of oil, dust and should be completely dry
by|Feb 18, 2021
A: I've done plaster before, but not for many years. By "new", I assume it has never been painted or wall papered before. Yes, you could, but I would wait at least 30 days after the plaster was applied so it could dry out well. You really do not need to prime new plaster before you paint it, but again, wait 30 days for the plaster to dry well before you paint it. If you are going to wall paper it, you might want to prime it first, but wall paper sizing would be a better choice. This is more so the wallpaper will be easier to remove later on if you want to re-paper, or even paint that same wall in the future. It really applies only to vinyl wall paper. If you are using real paper and a wheat based paste, don't even bother to prime it.

A: No, if you want to "repaint" already painted drywall. This is formulated for bare unpainted drywall. Use a regular primer if you have stained drywall or use a regular colored topcoat.

Q:How well does this work for priming old wood paneling (after scuff sanding)?

Answer This Question
A: I think it would work fine. I would plan on doing 2 coats of this primer on this surface to insure coverage and smooth the surface before a final finish coat. This primer will go on and it might feel thin or look like it did not cover very well, but once it is dried I found it to be an excellent primer product. Good luck with your project.
