Nope won't be winning any accolades for being the most powerful. For me personally though the unit’s versatility and convenience help balance it out so for the tasks I wish to accomplish with it should suffice perfectly fine. Yes went through countless reviews seeing commonalities such as the elusive circuit board failure. Here’s hoping, after 7+ years since DCV581H initial release, Dewalt has addressed such issues to instill a better level of reliability. Pro’s: * Design/compactness * Run-time on 5ah battery * Cordless and corded operation (battery or AC) * Decent weight w/battery * Dry/wet capable * Can use as a blower * Filter * 2-gallong tank capacity Con’s: * Not quite as powerful as had hoped * Flex hose could be a foot longer (6’) * No bag option

It just doesnt have the power one would expect it to have

Purchased this product two months ago and the glass cartridge fuse needs to be repeatedly replaced. It is difficult to source a replacement fuse. Dewalt support has been completely absent. Do not purchase this product.

I have had this vac for about four years now. Absolutely love the tool, the ac power is a big help as well. Cannot think of a thing I have to say in the negative. 7-

It looks impressive, sounds impressive, but performs sub par at best. It has about as much suction power as a dust buster. And thats when plugged in. I have used it 4 times and will probably sell it.

This vacuum maybe is good for using on the table, but not a comfortable at all for mobility. Very small power cable, absolutely not enough for vacuuming a car or room. Small hose, the same problem. Nozzle attached to the handle - absolutely wrong implementation, you will drop this vacuum on your feet many times.

Worked fine for a few months cleaning cars and small messes around the house. Now it will not turn on. Product only worked for less than 6 months.

I've written to DeWalt about this unit, but they seem not interested. The idea of a portable wet/dry vacuum that runs on DeWalt-configured batteries is nice, but here are issues with the design they came up with: 1: The joint where the hose sleeves into the molded insert that attaches it to the unit fails. It's apparently glued in, they need a much better glue, or better, make a mechanical connection that won't fail. The hose is short, so this connection is constantly stressed, & constantly fails. 2: This molded insert that the hose is glued into is supposed to lock into the body of the unit with a partial turn. It continually unlocks & falls out. So before the glued in hose pops out of this plastic molding, the hose has already spontaneously detached from the the unit virtually every time it's used. 3: Beware: This hose is very narrow gauge, which means anything will block it up. If you're vacuuming anything other than the lightest dust (heaven forbid a tiny scrap of wood is buried in the sawdust...) it WILL clog. Pushing out the clog is a project, have long broom-handle at the ready at all times. If the broom handle is even a few inches short, it won't push it out. 4: There is no option for a filter bag. Bag-less vacuums all have the same problem: They force you to dump the dust, creating more dust, which defeats the whole point of vacuuming dust in the first place. 5: Bag-less vacuums rely on the filter only, which clogs. We need bags that fit this thing, and a HEPA filter. 6: The exhaust port on the side will blow everything around if you're not careful how you aim the body of the unit. It's in a very bad spot. There should be a swiveling nozzle on the exhaust port so you can aim the blower away from the dust you're vacuuming. This idea is great, but the design needs work, serious work.

Lightweight, compact and powerful for it's size. Very pleased with our purchase.

Just what we were looking for!!! We use our drill battery so didn’t have to buy battery and charger. Great suction and quick and easy to use!! My husband keeps it in his pickup and uses it anytime he has some spare minutes!! Keeps pickup free of our labs dog hair and is always ready when putting up the boat!! Does a great job and has a cord if needed!!

This small cordless/corded vacuum is nice for easy portable cleanups. It’s small, so not as powerful as larger shop vac, but still good for quick small jobs.

I’ve had this for about 2 years now. I wanted to love this thing so bad. In theory it’s perfect, it hits all the bullet points. Corded or cordless with my current batteries, perfect size and capacity, nice attachments, etc. It just seriously lacks power. Very disappointed the first time I used it and Ive given it plenty of chances since then thinking I’d learn to like it, still disappointed. It’s fine for cleaning up small messes of shavings or sawdust but there are far better options like the small hand held Dewalt 20v vacuum for jobs of that size. I thought it would be perfect for cleaning out vehicles, it just doesn’t have the power to pick things from carpet it seems.

We use these in our business and they are very reliable and convenient when you do not have an electrical outlet.

Suction is mediocre. Even corded. Was hoping for better from Dewalt.

Perfect for small clean up jobs and portable for job site work.

I really wanted the dual corded and cordless option. I have only used the cord a few times. Both work great has about the same power on cord or battery. I mainly use it to clean up small stuff like drywall after drilling or cutting to add a receptacle or speakers for a customer.

This vacuum was really more the branding than the actual tool
