Hello. Try this. Take the battery out of the alarm and push down the red finger in the battery compartment and close the battery door without the battery. This will be a bit of a trick as it is actually a design to keep you from plugging the alarm in without a battery. But in this case just as a test, plug the alarm in without the battery. Does the alarm power up? Do you have any other hardwired Kidde alarms in the house, even hardwired Kidde smoke alarms? Do they power up without a battery in this location? If neither alarm will power up on AC alone in this location, then it is a wiring issue of some kind. If it is just this alarm that won't power on AC alone in this location, call us with the alarm in hand at 1-800-880-6788 so we can figure out what is going on and how to get this resolved for you.
