Warning if you own an Echo
I also bought this chain thinking it was going to work on my Echo CS-352, but it was very tight. Then noticed the fine print that it will only work on Echo chainsaws IF you have an Oregon bar. Warning to anyone wanting to use this chain on an Echo. Apparently 16" does not mean 16".

Nice and sharp, this fit my generic 16” saw. Only 4 of 5 stars because the chain is barely 16” and I had to move my tension pin beyond is normal stop because the chain was so tight. They should add an extra segment to make this chain a tiny bit longer so it’s not a struggle to get your bar back into proper tension position. Overall a good chain, cut 4 trees down like butter.

Good chain, easy to maintain and holds edge well. I sharpen lightly with every fuel up and chain has preformed very well. Following this method, I have dropped and cut up approximately twenty trees various sizes and the chain is still in good shape.

Replacement Saw Chain for a Echo CS-352
I'm 70 years old and have been using chain saws for over 45 of those years. I thought I knew something about chain saws ... until recently.
I've had several Homelite chain saws over the years and they were my favorite (yes, sorry, even over Stihl). Then about 5 years ago I made the mistake of buying a modern, 16", home owner quality, plastic, hard starting piece of junk Homelite. The front plastic handle literally broke off in my hand while in use! It was only a couple years old.
Yeah ... I know ... a little too much information.
Well hast foward to about 3 years ago I bought an Echo CS-352 from Home Depot. I was not wild about the brand name and all the plastic. But, it had really good reviews and I don't want to spend much money for a chain saw at my age. I even bought a couple extra inexpensive HD MSB Y57 chains; since, as we all know, they don't stay sharp for long.
Well a couple weeks ago my son kind of kind of trashed my last sharp Y57 chain. Of course when I went to the local HD they didn't have any Y57 or S57 (Oregon equivalent) in stock. However, they did have several Y56's.
My Echo CS-352 calls for a Y57; yet, the Y56 package lists a CS-352 as one of the many 16" saws that it fits.
As your may know the number represents the number of drive links. So the main difference between a Y57 and a Y56 is one drive link. Otherwise, they are both for a 16 inch bar, 0.050 gauge, 3/8 pitch, low profile application.
I've read all this controversy over the number of drive links being crucial to match. Unless I'm crazy the gauge, pitch and profile are of greater concern. These parameters determine whether a chain matches up properly with the bar and sprocket(s).
To my thinking ... if your saw can comfortably adjust down to accept a chain with (1) less drive link what is the problem? As a loose comparison ... You can take a 1/4-20 nut and thread it onto any number of different length bolts as long at the diameter and pitch match.
What about the debate of Echo versus Oregon saw bars. Again, if the bar length, gauge, pitch, and profile are the same what is the issue?
Anyway, I bought a new 16" Oregon bar/chain set as an experiment. I installed only the Oregon S-56 chain on my used Echo bar. BTW … I usually rotate top and bottom bar edges each time I replace the chain. When I adjusted the chain tension it was well within the sweet spot.
Now ... proof lies in the results. I tested my theory by bucking up a large (> 30" at the base) fallen Red Oak tree. As a side note ... the grain on this Oak tree was tight. It was a very dense tree.
As you might imagine ... cutting from both sides the 16 inch bar was barely long enough to cut the full diameter. The Oregon S56 chain worked beautifully on the stock CS-352 Echo bar. I could not detect any flaws in operation. In fact it was still cutting well until the same son grazed a rock the other day.
Now I'll try out the Y56 model. I don't anticipate any problems; since, the bar length, gauge, pitch and profile are the same.
This has been one man's theory and experience. I welcome any feedback ... pro or con.

I have used my chainsaw 4 or 5 times since installing the new chain. I have been quite pleased with the performance, with clean and fast cuts. The price was great! As a result, I bought 3. Besides that, I was able to get free shipping to my home!
