I live in Bethesda, MD where prices are HIGH. This past winter I looked in hardware and supermarkets for simple wood kindling for starting wood fires in our fireplace. Could only find the fast/hot burning oil/resin based 'sticks' that are being sold as fire starters and cost more than $5 per package that contains about 12 'sticks'. This product looks like it might work well used as fire starter kindling. QUESTION: What's the down side, if any, of burning dry cedar shims as fireplace kindling?

Can shims be used to level kitchen floor

Floor is solid, just not level

How thick are the shims?
