Answer:
I would suggest using the 3/4 or 1 inch galvanized pipe found in the plumbing department. It has a much thicker wall and would hold 10 pounds easily without bending, I used it to build my frame and mast for a solar panels project. We have a monsoon season that produces winds strong enough to topple trees. The panels are still up and holding strong for two years now.

Answer:
It will bend about 10" downward in the middle based on your criteria. I would suggest something stronger (with a thicker material wall thickness) than EMT or spread the load out over a wider area on the tube. I made the assumption your 10# load is in one spot, half way the 10' length.

Customer Reviews

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as Expected When using the conduit for electrical work, it works exactly as expected. Not much else you can elaborate on. However, there are many other applications that it can be used for, it's just a matter of what you are trying to do. I cut (10) sticks down to 40" each (3 per stick) and placed them around the inside edge (spaced every 36") of a raised planter in our backyard. I left 16" above ground, the remaining 24" was set in concrete below grade. I then drilled 1/4" holes, 1" down, 6" down, and 11" down from the top. Lastly I strung 1/8" wire rope through the openings, and secured at the ends with turnbuckles. The end result was a very modern looking fence / barrier, which purpose is to keep our dogs out of the planter. To purchase this type of fence would have been 20 times more expensive, at least. Cheers! May 12, 2016
