Customer Questions & Answers

Is it sticky when it dries? I am going to stain redwood deck furniture.

Asked by: Anonymous
When dried, not sticky at all. I stained my wooden benches and they look beautiful. Just make sure you stir this real good. Sometimes I had to stir occasionally while I was painting to keep the product from settling to bottom of can. Overall I think you would be well pleased.

I just built a new picnic table with pressure treated wood. Do I need to wait some time before I use this stain on the wood, or can I stain it now?

Asked by: GatorG
Go for it, do spray the stain on, much faster and easier to clean up.

Is this thick like a paint stain or runny?

Asked by: Anonymous
It's NOT stick at all but as you're using the paint it becomes a little more ticker. As for the running part, as long as you don't exceeds the amount of paint in the brush you are okay!

I have used it on patios and planters. It is more lasting on vertical surfaces than on floors. Easy clean up, easy to apply. I would love if it was just a little more thicker. That's the reason for the 4 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value for a general purpose REDWOOD stain I had to cover a weathered shed that had a previous stain coating. As I looked at the reviews on this, I decided to give it a try. When you open the container, the stain looks decided redder than a redwood would be, and it is red when applied, but it dries to nice brownish red redwood tint. See my enclosed photo where the wood on the left is dried finish, the wood in the middle is as applied, and the unstained wood is on the right. Coverage was as I expected. My wood soaked in the stain, and some extra coats were needed. It applies like oil, but cleared up the brushes like latex. Good stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for our old scarred but solid deck This is just what we needed to make our home look nice! We purchased an older home in need of many cosmetic fixes. One of the worst, most obvious problems was the UGLY deck. Being on a budget, we searched for solutions: The deck either needed extensive sanding and resurfacing OR this product. There are a lot of deep grooves and deep stains in the wood, not a smooth surface. I bought one can (with this price, it's easy to experiment) just to see what would happen. Cleaned the wood with a wire brush and the results are smashing. This red stain is very much like what they use on wood picnic tables. Not for everyone, quite reddish when dry, but what an improvement for our cottage-y place. So far, it's sticking, covering well with two coats, dries fast and easy to use. Quite happy here! Rated 3 out of 5 by from Should be called paint! I started to apply "stain" with a sponge, which I've done before with great success, and it didn't take at all. So I rolled it on, using two coats to get complete, uniform coverage. After allowing to dry for two days, and touching to assure it wasn't tacky, I began to set up a pergola on the deck, only to discover the stain peeled where pieces of metal had been laid, leaving a big mess!
