I ordered the SC-210 Ultra pure white and received 501101 tintable white. Was this a mistake or does the 501101 have to be tinted to ultra pure white?
Asked by: deck
Hello, Great question. Our 5011 already comes in our standard Ultra Pure White color and can be used as is. Best regards, Kevin

After cleaning the deck, how long should we wait before applying this stain?

Asked by: sft
Hello sft, We appreciate your question. There's no set time to wait after cleaning, as it can take hours or a few days depending on the weather. Basically, we'd want the surface to be fully dry to the touch after cleaning. Well wishes for your project! -Joshua

Can SC-210 be colored to Ultra Pure White 5010

Asked by: Confused
Hello Confused, Thanks for your question. Our Premium Solid Color Weatherproofing Stain can be tinted to Ultra Pure White (SC-210). Please note that our No. 5010 base has been discontinued, and for this white color you'd need the No. 5011 base. Best wishes for your project!

Primer Needed?

In both of the stains I just bought (ultra white and russet), it states in the Overview, "Self Priming". In Specifications, under Details, it states, "Primer Required". Which is it?
Asked by: derputz
Hello derputz, Great question, and sorry for the confusion. Actually, this product is self-priming, and a primer is normally not needed. A primer would be needed when the wood type has a tendency to bleed (for example, cedar, redwood, and cypress woods), or if there are medium to heavy stains or discolorations that need to be sealed (rust or mildew stains, for example, once rust or mildew residues are removed). Best wishes for your staining!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and great results for an ugly deck I read many reviews and advice on using this or that stain. Behr stainds were often NOT recommended and at first scared me off. However, my deck is nearly 20 years old, the last time stained a long time ago, and I found an old can of the Behr stain in the garage, so decided to go with both the behr deck cleaner and then stain, despite many people advising, both in person and on websites that I HAD to strip off the old stuff first. Was not something I wanted to deal with! I cleaned the deck with the deck cleaner..... and then it rained for about three weeks so I couldn't stain. I did in that time do a fair bit of scraping off loose stain and a little sanding, but not to bare wood by any means. Finally two sunny days in a row! I quickly got that stuff on there. With a 4 inch deck brush, it only took about two hrs for 200 sq ft deck. Went on super easy. A few weeks later and still looks great! If it starts to peel like others warned, I will update, but as of now I am totally satistied. Gettysburgh blue is a nice bright blue. No way was my old pressure treated wood ever going to look nice as wood again, so I went with a happy color (reminds me of decks at the beach!). Use without fear! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Deck Stain/Sealant Ever! I bought this product to refinish my deck after wasting my time using more expensive products out there, which peeled up after one year. I used two brushed-on coats on my deck. Excellent as a sealer. Smoothed out all splintered areas. Smooth finish and water repellant. Looks amazing. I need to look no further for the best....I found it!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Color and Easy Application I chose the Tugboat solid-color stain from the BEHR Premium Wood Coatings line when I needed to stain my deck. I’d read a lot online that you have to be really careful with stains because they can leave “lap marks,” but I found that the solid stain color was incredibly forgiving and I didn’t have a problem with it at all. It went on smoothly and dried pretty quickly, leaving the wood a beautiful chocolate-y brown hue. Within 24 hours, you can start walking on the deck (light traffic only is recommended) and by 72 hours, it’s fully cured. I worked on it a couple hours a day over a few days, working in the morning before it got too hot (and the bugs came out!), and it proved to be a really straightforward DIY project that I was able to complete all on my own.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't make it through one winter Bought this product, as well as the pre-washes. Followed all of the instructions for washing, drying, and coats to a T. After our first winter, spring comes around and now everything is peeling. It also warped many of our boards. I would not recommend. 10 years must really be a stretch, as we didn't even make it 10 months... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best stain & paint out there~ I've used Behr stains and paints for many years and have never been disappointed. Most recently put on a coat of weatherproofing solid, Cape Cod Grey, on a 12x12 shed sided with all wood T1-11. Rolled it on with a 3/8 roller and it worked well even on the rough T1-11. Used this same stain and same color on a similar shed I built about 12 years ago. One coat and it still looks great! I've been around quite a while and believe me over the years I've tried just about every paint and stain made and nothing beats Behr products - not even close! Rated 5 out of 5 by from This deck looks and feels brand new!! I have a 20 year old green treated deck that is approximately 1200 sq feet. It was very weathered and faded with tree sap, mildew and age. I first power washed to remove all of the tree sap and mildew. Then sanded a few rough horizontal surfaces. Then replaced a few warped and/or twisted floor planks. I then applied the first and second coats of Behr Premium Solid color stain with a power roller. The results were absolutely amazing! The deck looks practically brand new! Please see the 2 attached pictures. I'm so proud of the results! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
