Answer:
This torch can reach about 3700 degrees F and the melting point of sand is approximately 3200 degrees. Providing you can make the sand reach 3200+ degrees you will be able to make glass.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Buy the 8000 No adjustment on flame. Spend a little more and get the TS8000 instead. April 14, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Spring for the premium torch! Yes, this torch works great but, not for long! I use MAPP gas to sterilize the cutting tools that I use on my orchids - works great! My old torch was older than the hills and I finally replaced it about a month ago with this one. Well, the new one stopped worked yesterday. I thought I was out of gas but, no, the torch head was dead. Pay more and get a better quality torch head! February 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good price I bought this to bend some heavy duty S hooks that I coudn't move with out the gas. The Map gas made short work of it. I have some small propane tanks, I lost the head(looked over a year for it). So I just went with the Map gas for more heat. July 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great! I bought this with some hesitation because I didn't want to spend that much on a torch but I quickly found out that it was worth the money. Just so you know I have never soldered anything in my life so this was a learning experience as well. I really like the trigger start which makes operation and handling very easy and it also has a hold button to keep the flame on constantly if you don't want it to turn off automatically. I was told by a Plummer that he only uses the MAP gas torches instead of the propane ones because they operate at a higher heat level which makes doing the job much faster. Do yourself a favor and invest the extra money to get the MAP gas torch. You'll be glad you did! April 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect mapp torch love this trigger, easy screw-on torch for portable torch needs. Also love the on/off knob, super convenient and easy to use. Dependable too, always works! December 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Useful If you ever plan on using a torch more than a couple times in one setting, you'll appreciate the trigger-start feature instead of using a flint sparker. A must for connecting more than a handful of copper fittings, stripping paint, or similar tasks. July 27, 2013
