Customer Questions & Answers

Can this tee be used to pass a 3/4" conduit through it?

I'm making a home built trellis and need to know if a 3/4" conduit will pass through this tee. I plan to have another conduit going down the tee branch. Hope you can understand what I'm asking. Thanks for any help.

I build things using PVC pretty often, from kid climbers to rabbit pens, to hangers for kayaking gear. Because of the internal lip which is meant to smooth the flow of a connected pipe - a 3/4 conduit will not pass through. You have two options - and they have different advantages. If you want the conduit to move through it easily - either making a hinge or a sliding door - then you will want to use a 1 inch T and 3/4 inch conduit. If you want to slide it into place and have it stay there then use a brake honing tool to increase the bore in the middle, and take a little off of the ends if it is snug (it will depend on the thickness of the conduit). Slide it into the desired place. When you are ready to glue the connected piece then put a lot of extra glue inside the open hole, insert the other piece - then spin the whole piece around the solid conduit to glue it in place. If you want it moveable - then use a 1 inch T over the 3/4 inch conduit.
