Defective and warranty is a joke
See pics! I Chose GAF Timberline because they look great and were supposed to be some of the best you can buy. I feel like a fool for purchasing these, then as they began to fail, I patched them, paid to have the leaks repaired, with no luck. Wasting hundreds trying to fix my leaks... That continue to form. Àfter less than 10 yrs, I have leaks in every room, have had ceilings ruined and GAF refused to warranty stating that my shingles were damaged. This is a nightmare .

Tops in architectural shingles and design!
I've been using the stuff for over 30 years and never had a problem with its quality and installation. The GAF folks have never let me down with answering questions for "funky" ridges and valley roof types along with follow up support. This company is the leader in architectural shingles and design.
Although there are pros and cons with installing this product over existing shingled roofs, I never take a chance and tear the original off; if applying a 30 lb. synthetic membrane over the existing roof isn’t possible. Many times I've been on jobs done by others after 5 years and removed the entire 2-3 layers because “what wasn’t seen or inspected”, came back to haunt the homeowner. This was generally due to a poorly vented attic or water damage around chimneys, vents, and valleys with the wrong type of roofing paper/under-layment; especially on 3-12 and 4-12 structures. However, I’ve seen properly installed roofs with issues and GAF has always been there to honor the warranty without question.
The attached photos show the product that was installed on a Tudor multi pitched home in 2015 enhancing curb appeal along the roof-lines.

Bad quality
These are a nice color but horrible to work with. Thank god I am only doing a little part of my roof with them because when you rip the plastic off of then tar strip it doesn't come off in one piece. It's going to take forever to do it.

Great, I love it!!!
I had all of my roofing replaced a month ago, (a 'cape w/ garage' + 700sf extension), with The Great American Contractors and they were very professional - they 'do what they say/ say what they do', and very satisfied with the type of material they used and their workmanship in their installation.

New Roof and a Sigh of Relief
Just finished roof replacement. Encountered Home South Roofing by chance and so glad I did. We moved in to a home with a roof that was 23 years old storm damage and inspection concerns of leaks. Our insurance wouldn't cover anything. My neighbors were all having roof repair/surface replacement and the estimate prices were teeth gritting. Sam Tate was my chance contact, salesman, and project manager. His estimate included best quality for materials (just as he would do for his own roof) which was above code requirements. He added items like stick-on Ice and water shield which is code in Florida. We delayed the project until the weather was dry and the crew was on and done in 48 hours. Sam even checked in and out to see if we were being inconvenienced! The clean-up was thorough and immaculate even behind the shrubs and he promised to take care of any tire-nail incident. The estimate was well below my neighbors and worthy of a sigh of relief. Finally, the warranty was 10 years on workmanship and 50 on material. 5 earned stars Home South and Sam.
