If you don't have your installation manual try going on line check on dryer replacement parts, find this cord and you should see a PDF option for your specific dryer model installation manual. Safety first the black and red wires are your hot wires, white wire is neutral, it usually goes on the middle screw along with the other white wire from the dryers connector, and the green wire goes to the green screw as the grounding part. You can DIY. Make sure all power is off to the dryer by unplugging all cords prior to installation. You will most likely need a 1/4" hex socket or either a flathead or phillips screwdriver. The manufacturer instructions are good.

TIP: If you have a camera, take images of the back of the dryer before you remove wire plate covers. After removing wire plate protective covers [those that cover the existing cord], take another image of the exact wat the wires are attached, noting the color code of each wire. Install the new cord matching the color code positiong recorded in your image, tighten well, reinstall protective plates, and you are finished with the cord replacement! Read Less

Actually Rita, your picture is NOT a picture of a NEMA 14-30R so you need to read on the outlet to see what it s. It looks like a 50 amp receptacle, possibly a NEMA 14-50R so you should Not use a 30 amp cord on a 50 amp outlet. I suggest consult a qualified electrician because your Question indicates you don't have enough knowledge to do this safely. I suspect the outlet in the picture is a 50 amp range Read More

Answer:
Hello, actually Nancy from GE is incorrect. The plug on the cord is a NEMA 14-30P, hence the P. A NEMA 14-30R is a receptacle, hence the R. This cord with a NEMA 14-30P plug will fit into a NEMA 14-30R receptacle. This is odd that a GE rep doesn't know this. Good luck

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well made product I was able to easily install it on an electric dryer when we moved to our new house. I had to use a youtube video for guidance, but this is definitely a simpl DIY project. As for the cable, it is very sturdy and has done its job without any hiccups. Bottom line: if the price is right, don't hesitate to choose this cord. April 26, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It works... It was properly installed and it works. Nothing fancy, just works. It works, no fires so far. It just works. November 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just Right Just moved into a new house and the dryer connection had a different plug than the last house. This cord was exactly the right kind and length. November 11, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quick and easy Simple install, cord is a little stiff for the angle that they typically get installed at - but it works. November 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Purchase Easy to install, and worth the cost - one thing to remember, it doesn't come with the screws to attach the wires into the dryer - (Ground, hot and netural ) October 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Experience The dryer cord went on very simply and the the associate at the store knew exactly what one I needed. Made this much easier for me. September 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I needed It was an exact reolacement for my broken cord, and a perfect length to allow the washer/dryer combo to be pulled out to access the back. September 3, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by check your parts Good quality cord. Easy to install for most. Take care with screws as they are small & if they fall into back of dryer you have to take off back to retrieve the screw. The problem was the package had been taped and the stress relief bar and its screws were missing. May 22, 2014
