There is no info in the user manual as to how the cord connects to the machine. I want to confirm that the wiring is the same as my old dryer.

The old cord would have had a change in its resistance over time due to the pull of voltage by the old motor in that machine, therefore you can expect some degradation of the efficiency of the cord which would be immediately experienced on the new machine. However - to your question - your old dryer cord ends in three clips and is the same configuration as new cords - getting it out and putting it on is the trick but again, I think you would be happier with a new cord and the technicians installing it. Answer:
Hello dee - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. A squeak when the unit is started is normal; the sound should go away after the first few seconds of operation. If it does not, then we recommend contacting GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. I hope this helps!

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 217 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by I hate this dryer!! Can't use the buzzer--my dog thinks it's the alarm going off (it is very very loud) and acts like there are fireworks or thunder outside. The lint catcher is cheap, cheap and doesn't work efficiently. I can see lint that has fallen down the shute, which means I now have to get the dryer vent cleaned out professionally. The temperature of the dryer is too hot. The door won't stay open. This is the first review I have ever written, but also the first time I have truly hated my purchase. The first time I talked to Home Depot they said they were all the same, the second time I talked to them they said I waited too long to exchange, but I kept trying to give it time and maybe I'd get used to it. I contacted G.E. and was told they would give my concerns to the research department for future designs. March 17, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by I wouldn't if I were you I gave it three stars only because it's the only GE product that is still running after 18 months of use. It has started to squeak and based on the messes my other two GE products have caused - water damage from both. I won't use it until it has been looked at. I've had two GE products damage my home, I'm not chancing a third. Maybe my dryer is a fluke - but one thing is for sure - dealing with GE is horrible. I will never buy another GE product - I bought three when I moved into my home and all have had multiple service calls and they are less than a year and a half old. Dealing with GE is even more disappointing than their sub-par appliances. They should be ashamed of themselves. February 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Plenty of space & items come out very soft! I bought this GE Dryer about 2 months ago & I'm glad I did. Dryer is really quiet & clothes come out soft. I don't have to worry about adding extra minutes to make sure my clothes are dry because of the feature the dryer has. It also has a convenient light in it. March 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by THE ABSOLUTE WORST APPLIANCE I HAVE EVER PURCHASED!!!!! BEWARE OF GE PRODUCTS!!! THIS DRYER IS TAKING HRS TO DRY MY CLOTHES....THE LINT TRAP WHICH IS ON THE INSIDE OF THE DRYER IS GETTING LINT ALL OVER MY CLOTHES...... BY FAR THE WORST APPLIANCE I HAVE EVER PURCHASED. ONCE HOME DEPT DROPS THE APPLIANCE OFF YOU HAVE 48HRS TO SEND IT BACK OR YOU ARE STUCK LIKE ME..... BECAUSE G.E WILL BE OF NO ASSISATNCE TO YOU. I HAVE MADE 4 DIFFERENT APPOINTMENTS FOR THIS DRYER TO BE SERVICED NON OF WHICH HAVE BEEN KEPT..... EACH TIME THE SERVICE TECH NEVER SHOWED. THE FIRST TWO TIMES THEY WENT TO THE BILLING ADDRESS WHEN THEY HAD BEEN TOLD THE PHYSICAL ADDRESS AND PHONE #..... THE 3RD TIME 3/31/2015 NO ONE CAN EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT HAPPENED ALTHOUGH I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL CINFIRMING THE DATE AND TIME OF 8-5 ON A TUES(WORK DAY) AND AGIAN NO ONE SHOWED OR BOTHERED TO CALL AND CANCEL. WHEN I CALLED TO ASK Y I WAS TOLD TO CALL THE OUTSIDE SERVICE DEPT MYSELF BECAUSE I LIVE IN AN RURAL AREA BY CHEZ(CUSTOMER RELATIONS) IN TN EX 3671 BECAUSE I ASKED HIM TO CALL ME BACK RATHER THAN BE PUT ON HOLD FOR THE 3 TO 5 MINS HE WAS ASKING ME TO HOLD......HE THEN CALLED ME BACK 15 MINS LATER AND TOLD ME TO "CALL MYSELF BECAUSE I DIDNT WANT TO BE PLACED ON HOLD'' AND SO ON. HE EVEN HAD THE NERVE TO SPEAK OVER ME WHILE I WAS SPEAKING AND WHEN I TOLD HIM HE HAD POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILS HE CONTINUED TO BE ARGUMENTIVE *YET ANOTHER DEAD END* SO I CALLED THE NUMBER HE GAVE ME AND THEY ARE NOW TELLING ME THAT IT WILL BE APRIL 23RD BEFORE THEY CAN COME OUT......THIS IS RIDICULIOUS.......SOMEONE NEEDS TO REPLACE THIS DRYER OR REPAIR IT!!!!! PREFERABLY RELACED...... I DONT THINK I SHOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH SO MANY PEOPLE AND IT TAKE SO MUCH TIME FOR THIS PROBLEM TO BE HANDLED. April 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by extremely quiet Just bought this a couple of days ago, but, have been doing non stop laundry since it was plugged in! The sensor dry feature is great. I haven't had to reset anything. I've done quilts, sheets, towels, rugs, jeans and have a load of delicates going now. It runs very quietly, which is what I wanted. February 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GE Dryer I've only had this for a couple of days and works great February 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Features I bought this because my other dryer was 15 years old and it wasn't heating January 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Machines. Very much worth the purchase. Have had this et form GE for a little over two years now and both work as great today as they did the first day. Very happy with this purchase. January 9, 2016
