Locating you generator 75' from your house should only affect the 5' whip on your generator. The one with the disconnect box on the other end. The transfer switch wiring should not be affected UNLESS where you attach to your house is over 30' from your transfer switch location. Runs on natural gas or propane. Installation cost me about $1000, but got a real good price from my electrician (good friend). Might cost closer to $1500-$2000 to install. Needed permits for both electrical and gas installation.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Installers opinion I'm a licensed electrician. I've installed the 11kw Generac standby and I can tell you this generator is a beast!! Well worth the investment. November 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Installed and Ready Earlier in the year, my wife and I decided on having a backup generator installed. We opted for a unit that provided the basic backup features in case of a power outage. Since moving here just over a year ago, we have already experienced four outages and with a blind elderly mother living with us, that makes life difficult. After some research, we decided on the size and made the call. Our selected dealer / installer responded immediately and after their survey, we completed our selection and set up the installation date. We now have a brand new generator installed and doing its weekly test run. So far, since the installation, we have had no outages but there have been plenty of opportunities owing to the spring storms in our area. We are extremely pleased with the installation, the installer and the services they provide. If we never need the generator, that is fine by me but I know it is sitting there ready to go if we do. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Working flawlessly I Have had it for over a year now and it just sits there quietly until it's called upon when the power goes out. Then it turns Into a power pumping monster without hesitation. High winds a few weeks back blew a tree over the powerlines and the they snapped. Within 20 seconds my Generac was up and humming. Easily powering my home. And, it kept on running for the next 6 hours with out any issues. Once the power company had made the repairs and juiced up the lines again the generator quietly and automatically went back into hibernation until next time. And there will be a next time. But I'm not worried. One of the best investments for my family and my home. I'm glad I purchased it. April 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Generator - be selective with who installs it I do a lot of research before I buy things, this generator seems to be the best value out there. My only issues were the installation charges. Home Depot contractors quoted me $7500 installed - that's $4500 just for installation of a $3000 generator??? Back to researching online - I found a website that stated the installation should take about 6-8 hours for an experienced electrician. Ok, so I called some other Generac dealers in my area. They were all around $3000-$3500 for installation. Then I called just a regular licensed electrician, said he's installed several Generac generators and he'd do it for time and materials, should be about $1000. It took him about 7 hours total, my bill came to $810. The propane company charged $550 to install 2 100 gallon tanks and hook them up to the generator. So total installation cost for me was under $1400 - a far cry from $4500 - do your homework, make some phone calls. We don't lose power often, but it's peace of mind knowing we now have this unit hooked up. October 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good price, acceptable quality I am electrician and we have installed more than 100 in less than a year, I like the performance, virtually dot have to do anything, just change the oil. It is true that we have taken some mechanical problems with some, but in general I like. I recommend it. November 5, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cottage Generator We've had this generator for just over a year. It's very reliable especially when paired with Mobile Link which sends a text when it's testing or when power is out at our cottage. Also, it's easy to find firms who will perform the annual maintenance service. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. April 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Whole house back up gives us peace of mind We just had our generator installed. Jay and Charlie were very professional and had it installed in about 6 or 7 hours. Has a nice appearance to it and doesn't take up much room. Kicks right on when the power goes out. All lights and heat went right back on within about a minute. Very glad we invested in one - it's worth the peace of mind. March 28, 2016
