How do you go about purchasing the ridgid 18 v router .is it an on line or in store purchase?

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.

Specs say it has 25,000 hp. Should i hold it with both hands?

Asked by: Anonymous
Haha, well now it says "0 HP". The 25,000 spec is definitely not the HP rating, because that would drain a 5Ah battery in 0.017 seconds! You would REALLY need to hold onto that with both hands! The 25,000 spec is actually supposed to be for max RPM. It should definitely be manageable with one hand, since it's a trim router.

18-Volt Brushless Compact Router is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 59.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little trim router Compact routers in the past have been undersized and they didn’t have enough power to get the job done. That is not the case with this router. I have 2 heavy duty routers in my shop but this is now the first one I reach for on most jobs. It's just so comfortable in your hand. It has the power I need for most jobs without the weight & awkwardness of the larger horse power routers. I've had mine for about 3 months and love it. I just can't find a fault with the router as it does everything I ask of it with ease and without strain. The craftsmanship is excellent and the micro-adjustment is great. All of the controls are within easy reach and it is really a pleasure to use. There is a LED light that illuminates the work area and improves visibility. A quick release lever allows for easy removal of the motor housing from the base. It has a variable speed option allows you to adjust speed from 17,000 RPM to 25,000 RPM. For what it is worth, I would highly recommend this router not only for finish and detail work but for general use as well-it is a very capable tool that will not disappoint you. Hardly ever use my larger routers except when I need to use my router bits with ½ inch shafts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Trim Router Every Ridgid tool I have is just superb! And so is this cordless brushless trim router. I have never had a router at all and I wanted to be able to smooth out edges of boards, particularly the deck boards on my deck in my back yard. I did not want the hassle of a corded tool - too much trouble. I bought some Ryobi roundover bits to use in the router. This tool is so easy to use and has adjustable speed. Very powerful and clean cutting. I really enjoy using it and now I can smooth over those rough edges on boards! It is particularly easy to hold and guide into the wood. What a pleasure to use. Look at the video and images of the tool. There ya go!

I expected it to be lightweight but was surprised at just how light it really is. The design and ergonomics are nice and well thought out. The depth adjustment is pretty intuitive. The power-on switch has to be pulled out and is a bit clunky, but it's designed for safety and would work well to prevent accidentally switching the unit on during transport, etc. Bit change is simple and quick with the included wrench. I've only used it so far for two projects, so I can't comment on longevity and durability, but it seems to be pretty solid. I've used it with an 18V 4Ah battery and it seems to have plenty of power and great run time. Overall, this thing is so quick and easy to use that I can see myself reaching for it with a lot of projects. Highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from cut the cord-a followup Well, I've had this now since October of 2016. as I have said in a prior review, this purchase was intended for heavy daily use in a trade (cabinet making ). Since its been purchased I can honestly say she has cut easily 4-5 thousand (yes thousand ) linear feet of material. It's still very comfortable to use, but you must be mindful of its limitations. It is cordless so it does lack the HP of a corded router, therefore it cuts slower. It has been very reliable until recently wherein the switch has a "dead spot" in it around 3/4 of the way out. this doesn't surprise me much due to its heavy use. Fortunately the LSA has come to save the day. It's currently out for service and I am tangled with a corded version until it's return. That alone has very much reminded me of why I bought it in the first place. Overall, with the past to reflect upon, I would definitely buy it again

I saw these when first introduced on Facebook and thought: ok, another tool that works with my batteries (have 5 right now). Wasn't amazed until I saw it for $10 off at the store and had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket. Made the purchase, got home, filled out the warranty paperwork and then it sat for a few days. Got out to my shop and decided I needed to save a few cutting boards that had Ash Borer holes in them by adding an inlay. So I pulled this little doozy out and threw in a 1/8 straight bit and went to work. What a DREAM to not deal with the cords! All my batteries are the 4.0ah and this thing will run for a SOLID hour before draining one, if not more. Now I've not tried it on actual trim work, only the inlay work, but it's a delight! I'll add some handles for it to one of the bases to make detailed work easier, and receiving two different bases with it is another plus. Changing bits is easy and straight forward, and the guide rods screw in nice and snug, giving me confidence that when I use the edge guide it'll be tight and straight. Speed adjustment is nice and unexpected for me on a trim router. ONLY cons: Wish the power switch were more user-friendly. I get that it needs to be a real positive-engagement switch so you're really aware that it's on or not, but at least on the other side of the router would be good. I also did not receive the wing-bolts that are used to attach the guide to the guide rods. Must have been left out of the box. Hopefully Home Depot will take care of that without making me have to return it. I don't want to part with the router!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great router I’m happy with this new product. I have a decent collection of 18V Ridgid tools and this is a nice member to add to the family. I was initially wondering about the balance and general ergonomics since the battery sits on top. That was not an issue. It handles well and what you would expect from such a compact router. I like the brushless motor, especially as more tools are moving this direction. The adjustments are easy to manipulate. I added some photos show them up close. As far as I’m concerned using a router correctly and accurately is a bit of an art form. This router makes it easier for a new person or an old pro. An always the LED light is a much appreciated addition. Overall, very easy tool to operate and handle. My cuts were accurate and the tool worked as advertised. I recommend.
