Control is well built and works fine. Installation instruction Fig 5 on Page 7 fails to identify the "red" wire going to the Furnace Circuit Breaker. This is a major problem and needs to be corrected.

This kit is the cats meow. So well built and thought out. If you are looking to back up some of your house during a storm / loss of power, this is the way to go. Makes backing up power easy and safe. My only complaint is that it took me some time to find one!

Works fantastic. Install was a breeze. We did a simulated outage and it worked perfectly. I know for a fact that two people have bought this item because of the input I gave them regarding this product. My father n law and a close personal friend are owners of a Pro Tran 2 transfer manual switch.

This kit comes with everything you need to complete a very simple installation. The components are high quality and well marked for identification. Watch a YouTube video for additional insights and you will easily figure out how to get it done. I had no problems and I am no electrician.

just what I needed! sturdy, heavy bugger! installed with the optional flush mount kit. makes install cleaner and tucks a good 3" of panel into the wall. had to trim the pigtail for my needs but not a big deal. the 10' cord is a plus. additional flex or conduit and, at least, #10 wire to plumb in the exterior plug. I had to fabricate a different cord because my portable gen has a 20A outlet. so I can, if need be, get 20' of cord using both cords. again, make sure you use a heavy gauge wire! it is limited to 6 circuits max (split the double pole breaker) but is sufficient for what I need until I get a permanent standby system to run the whole house and well. will leave this installation as an emergency backup to the future backup (worst case...).

Great Product. I did however have the same issue some others had where only some of the six circuits came on line when I transferred to generator, although when in line mode everything worked, so I knew my wiring install was correct. The issue are the internal leads becoming lose , either from the install, the factory or shipping. To correct the issue, Shut you main power down, absolutely make sure nothing is energized, and make sure you have a good flash light or spot light. Open the Reliance panel, pull the breakers out without disconnecting them and try to manipulate the leads back on the back. Some folks had to un screw the top plate and fold out the bus, I was lucky. In my case just manipulating the leads and making sure everything was snug corrected the issue. Now, why did I say don’t take the breakers wires out? Especially with the 20 AMP breakers, but all of them on this Reliance model , have short nice and neat looped wires to the breaker itself, if you disconnect them, plan on splicing new 2 inch cables to get enough room to work and insert the wires back into the back of the breaker. Obviously,This is not a full sized panel, so working space is limited. This was the only issue I ran into, it took me longer to figure out where to mount it , and opening up some dry wall for a recessed install.

I bought this product because we are expected to have 75 mile per hour winds in Buffalo this weekend. It took me roughly 4 hours to install this product because I had to Prepare. After I installed it I started up my generator and worked flawless. Make sure you balance the loads off but for my 4500 W generator, this works perfect.

Very well built and pretty easy to install. Be forewarned though, you will need extra parts. Get them before you leave The Depot. The kit includes conduit and wire to connect from your panel to the tranfer switch and back very nicely. However, you will need wire and conduit to go from the new transfer switch to the plug box included in the kit. I think they omitted these parts in the kit because local codes dictate what you will need. There is a 6 part YouTube tutorial on the installation that is very helpful. Watch the entire thing before you start ordering parts. If you are at the store grab the electric department person and pick their brain. If they can't help, ask an electrician, there is probably one digging in a bin right there in the isle with you and are often happy to help. Our power went out less than a month after my install and I'll tell you what I would do it again without hesitation. So simple to connect the generator once it's done and my family stays warm.

NOTE: If you have a generator that only puts out 120 volts, only 3 of the 6 circuits can be used (you can't split 120v) or power a 240v circuit in your home . An output option of 240v must be available from your generator, which is usually marked on a switch. When Superstorm Sandy hit I was without power for 5 days and vowed, "Never again," so I purchased a generator, but extension cords running everywhere during a 1-day power outage the following summer was a problem and I realized it wouldn't help my furnace, if it were winter. There are two versions of this 6-circuit transfer kit. The CRK and HDK models are identical with the exception of the circuit breakers. The CRK model uses round breakers provided by Reliance, while the HDK model uses standard breakers found in any hardware store. If a breaker went bad (no matter how unlikely) I wanted to be able to have a standard breaker replaced in minutes, rather than days waiting for a replacement breaker from Reliance. Therefore, I recommend purchasing the HDK model. I have an older home (purchased a few months before Sandy arrived), with 100 amp service, and I use a 5000W generator. Most of my time was spent checking the main panel to verify the outlets and lights corresponding to the circuits as marked on the panel (not all were correctly marked). I also had to change the plug on the 10' cord to the 20 amp, which is provided in the kit. After installing another small backer board to the wall, on which to mount the Reliant Transfer Panel, I was ready to proceed. Measuring twice (often, 3 times) and cutting once made mounting the outside service box a simple task. I have no 240v circuits, so I separated the two switches on the transfer panel that were tied together, No instructions for that - you rotate the "sleeve" in the middle of the switches and the threaded bar will exit out one end. A FEW TIPS: 1. Have a light source ready when you turn off the main breaker, if your installation area isn't really well lit from natural light. 2. REMEMBER! Your house service panel isn't completely safe even when you turn off the main breaker. Those two thick wires coming into the panel are from the outside. They are still "live" and can kill you. Respect them. 3. Have all the tools you'll need with you. 4. Double check your connections BEFORE turning the power back on. The wiring instructions are ALMOST idiot proof if you aren't color blind, but if your eyesight isn't great, finding the corresponding letters on each of the red and black wires can be daunting - especially the "E" and "F" wires. I got out my reading glasses and taped together each corresponding pair down low inside the main panel box after running the wires into it. I realized that after I trimmed some to the length I needed, the marked portion of the wire would end up on the floor. The actual wiring and wire nutting inside the panel took less than a 1/2 hour. Overall, I spent about 5 hours getting everything installed from start to finish. The power meters on the Transfer Panel that show the draw from each of the circuit splits (A-C-E and B-D-F) are useful and clued me in that I was too heavy on one side (I forgot a freezer unit was plugged in on the same side as my refrigerator). I just switched it with a circuit from the other side that was drawing far less power. I'm extremely satisfied with this kit. A friend spent over $7000 for an automatic, self-diagnosing system that he had to have a professional install, but I'm willing to spend the two minutes starting my generator and flipping switches manually for only $300.

Easy to,follow instructions. Put inside above my Main CB Panel. Took about an hour to mount box and run wires. Ran 6/4 Romex NM from outside plug. Easy to understand operation of transfer switches. Marked everything well. My wife even understands it. Test with generator for 30 min. No issues........
