Q:I would like to install Rubbermaid Fast Track rails in a wood storage shed with exposed studs (no drywall). Studs are not standard widths - 20” to 23” apart. How close together are the screw holes in the rails? Do shelf brackets need on studs?

Q:The rails do not give you enough holes to mount 16 inches apart. The rail is 48 inches, but the last hole on each side gives you about 47 inches meaning I can't hit 4 studs and can't start and end on one. Same goes for all lengths. What am I missing?

A: I have two, and they work fine with just 2 or 3 secured points in studs. Very sturdy, hold adequate weight, have never pulled out or sagged or bent. Also, you can place a horizontal 'stud' between vertical studs at the same depth to make a continuous line of wood to secure it in all holes at the height you want.

A: Thanks for your interest in our products and reaching out! For the Rubbermaid FastTrack Garage 48 in. Hang Rail Track Storage System you will need to start the rail in middle of the first stud. Rail should end in the middle of the last stud.

A: Re Rubbermaid response. Studs are 16" apart (on center). In order to mount on 4 studs, the rail would need to be longer than 48" as the holes start 1/2" from the ends (making the holes 47" apart). Start on center, end 1" left of center on last stud!

A: The real issue becomes that the instructions say if you can?t end on a stud to use the wall anchors spaced every 4 inches until the end instead. Spoiler alert, they don?t even give you enough wall anchors to mount even 2 of the fastraks in that way.

Old and new

We have 3 of these and I would absolutely recommend this product. Two strips are older and we did remove them off the wall to paint and had no trouble using them again. Great quality. I’m going to get a few more attachments today since we reorganized the garage.

Don’t move it! It’s junk after

I had to move the system and the plastic trim was a bear to get off. It twisted and cracked. If you install it. Make sure you don’t have to move it!

Great product. Mounts easily

Great product. Mounts easily (requires predrilling to mount surface). Screws for mounting are sold separately. [Rubbermaid Fasttrack never shows a garden hoe being mounted - only shovels & rakes for which this works great. Rubbermaid need to come up with a 'hook' dedicated to hanging up garden hoes.]

This is an extremely inventive system that works with all additional Rubbermaid FastTrack rails and add-ons that are available individually. Easy install and great space saver!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Rubbermaid Fast Track has been a great addition to my garage. We have a lot of sporting equipment and also needed a better spot to hang my son's hockey gear in between games. The Fast Track was pretty easy to install. I was able to drill a few pilot holes and use some concrete screws I had laying around to put this up quickly. I also got a few hooks and a ball rack which easily hook into the main track. I would recommend the Fast Track if you are in need of some extra space and storage in your garage. I am thinking of picking up a 2nd one.

Absolutely amazing hanging solution for anyplace that needs better organizing! I can’t believe how easy it is to switch up your “flow” of hooks and what a difference it has made in my garage. I love the all metal bracket that holds it all together and that it isn’t too difficult to cut down if you need to, but honestly they sell so many different lengths of it that you can really pick and choose and figure out what works with your space. I bought three hooks for it so far and am ordering more soon. Everything they make for this line works so well together! Highly recommend
