This was a great product for painting steel to create the perfect look for furniture. It wasn't too dark, wasn't too smooth, made it look like it came right off the factory floor. Love the way my table came out using this to color my accent pieces. Lightweight and easy to spray on with control. It went further then expected so i didn't need to buy as much as anticipated.

Doesn't really look hammered. Looks shiny and gray NOT black.

I chose Rustoleum Universal Hammered Spray Paint in black to refinish an upcycled pedestal base from a really old entertainment center to form a new base unit for an electric fireplace. The hammered effect is the perfect look I was going for because of its subtle multidimensional appeal. The cabinet was basically sturdy and well made but the finish was horribly worn down, scratched and really outdated. Rustoleum Universal covered all the blemishes and now it looks awesome. I also refreshed the finish on faux branches which did wonders and they look new again.

I only tested on a scrap piece, literally about a square foot, then I got nothing but air.

This company makes two versions of this paint - while the can may be easier to use, it doesn't spray well, and often loses pressure in the middle of a project. I have called the company and told them about numerous cans that have ALL done this, and yet they state that they have never heard of the problem. Stick to regular can and buy a spray handle if you need the more comfortable grip!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by LUVTHEBABY GREAT PAINT.. MESSY..
This paint covers well and I used it because of rust prevention and minor rust cover up. My complaint is the trigger comfort is good but really messy. I spray many items with Rust Oleum products and wanted the trigger comfort for a large project. There was as much paint leaking onto my hand as I was spraying. WEAR GLOVES to use.
Coverage is good and project looked great. My hands on the first spray day not so good.
Even with Messy use I still recommend this product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by vueng90 It's not black
First, there is nothing remotely black about this product. One might call it pewter, but it is not black. These cans do have a bad habit of clogging. I'm going have to repaint the whole project because this isn't black.

I could only use about 2/3 of every can and then after that it sprayed air. The "hammered" look was very sporadic and uneven. Not a great product.
