In looking for bins of this size, it seems reasonable to compare the thickness of the plastic, when assessing sturdiness rather than reading reviews that say "it's really sturdy" or "this is cheap". The dimensions are important but the plastic's thickness is really the be-all and end-all, when it comes to strength.
So, I was surprised to see that this bin does not reveal this information on the Home Depot website under "specifications", nor does it give this info on it's website. I called Home Depot and they could not find the information, either; they did, however, contact this manufacturer for me, and got the details quickly.
I can't fault this company alone. In comparing to comparably sized bins at Lowe's, the Hefty 66-Qt also failed to offer up this information. Interesting. It took far longer to get the details from Lowe's/Hefty, but finally I did.
The answers are baffling but here they are, as I was told:
This bin (the review won't let me write company name) is 1/8" thick or 3.17 mm, per Home Depot.
The comparably sized Hefty Tote at Lowe's, per HMS Products (Hefty), because Lowe's gave me incorrect (bizarre off the charts) information, is: 1.5 mm.
I find it hard to believe that the difference is so great. But this is what I was told. Now I am left to go to each store to FEEL the plastic. Not a very scientific method but it's hard for me to believe that this bin is twice the thickness of it's competitor. Also, I found it funny that the Hefty customer service person asked if I was doing a scientific experiment simply because I wanted to know how thick/sturdy her company's totes are. Nope, I just want to store my stuff, stacked, with confidence that my bins won't fall apart . . silly me . .
Off to use my hands . . .I'll try to report back my subjective findings! ; )

When you pick the bin with the lid on, the blue latches in the lid are unlocked by your fingers and the lid comes loose or falls off. Seems impossible to avoid doing this.
I immediately took back to store for refund.

These were on sale, so I bought a few since it seemed like a good deal. The lids do not stay closed tight, and it's not because I have them too full. They are not even close to full and when I move them, the lid pops off. Incredibly frustrating. They seem sturdy enough though. I have them stacked in my basement; I just down plan on moving them...

I use these to store 3D printing filament for my company. The Latch Box containers are easy to use and I am able to store 18 rolls of filament. It used to be a mess and now I am more organized. The boxes are stack-able which is nice!
The images I provided show my filament in the Latch Boxes.

I really like this product because it is so convenient to use. It is clear so you can see what is stored, and the latched lid stays securely in place. I use my latch box in my kitchen to store bulk products.

These Sterilite #1888 66 qt latch boxes were on Black Friday special for $5. There are less than 1 inch of latch surface on each side of the cover that clicks onto the base box. If you pickup the covered box and your fingers touch the latch, the latch will detach and the box will fall to the ground. You can break any fragile Christmas ornaments or other delicate items. You have to squarely grip the bottom edge of the box and avoid touching the latch when carrying this box. This is not acceptable compared to the other Sterilite models or other comparable brands/sizes.
Compared to the similarly priced Sterilite #1659 56 qt box, the #1659 has an all around seal between cover and box. There is no likelihood of cover separation during handling.
The most secure model is the Sterilite #1988 70 qt Ultra latching box, the latch is on the base itself and latches to the cover and will not separate when carrying unless you purposely flip off the latches with your thumbs.
The Sterilite #1888 66 qt latch boxes are going back to Home Depot for exchange.

I absolutely love this product. Its best feature is the fact that its clear. Due to this, I can not only fill it to the brim, but I can easily determine if the item I need is inside.
In addition, I've used this bin to transport items during a move. No need to label it with what's inside! Just slap on a label indicating the room it needs to be in when you arrive.
