Can this be used for underlayment for tile?

Asked by: Lisa
You would need a membrane over plywood, you should never install ceramic/porcelain tile right to wood with thin set

Would this be suitable as flooring in an attic?

Asked by: Kat
I wouldn't recommend this for flooring in attic as it's only 1/4" thick and not very strong. Get something thicker. I used 4 of these for the interior walls of my doghouse and with the studs 16" apart the board flexed a lot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very versatile item for wood look finishes If you pick nice pieces this product will stain very easily. It can hold stain a bit splotchy or uneven, but is great for backdrops etc without spending much at all. I have stained light, dark, and copper for different projects. I left them unfinished for a raw look also. They do dent rather easy so out of reach spots are best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievably Smooth Underlayment I found a company that manufactures 2'x2' stamped ceiling tiles out of metal. I wanted to apply them to a sheetrock wall in my home. My idea was to install these beautiful sheets of 3 ply underlayment first, then I could nail the metal tiles onto them. I used 1-1/4 deck screws to attach them to the sheetrock wall, hitting a stud if possible, but putting one in each corner and one in the middle. That made them lay nice and flat. That was one of the best ideas I've ever had, and I have plenty of them. The wood sheets are perfectly square and are so nice you could cover an area with them and clear coat them. They are really for using on flooring projects as an underlayment substrate to be glued down to concrete slabs or wooden floors before tiling or carpeting. The also come in 2'x4' size to prevent having to saw them to fit. I started to hand select mine, then I discovered that they are so uniformly nice, that you can just start loading them on your cart. They fit nicely in the back of my small Blazer. I really wish I could think of another project to use them on inside my house.
