Q:can this be installed on the plastic shower stall wall ?

        Answer This Question

A:  I imagine it could, if you found the wall studs under it and drilled through the shower wall, if it wasn't tile, that is. The screws should be sealed, though. The flange does cover the ends. I would ask a contractor, if it was good idea or not.

          A:  not recomended

          by|May 5, 2023

A:  Only if it is screwed into the wall studs behind the shower wall. You will need to seal the places where the screws go through the plastic to stop water from getting behind the plastic.

A:  provided it anchors into a stud behind the plastic. Use a stud finder. The plastic wall cover alone is not strong enough

A:  Yes, as long as the plastic wall is not the primary attachment point for the bar (see exception at end). It would need to be screwed into studs which I'm guessing help frame the plastic enclosure. The only time I would say you could use the wall itself as the primary support would be if the wall was significantly thick (1/4-inch or more) and that you could get toggle bolts or some other heavy duty anchoring system behind it (the wall).

Q:can it be installed on a fiberglass tub?

              Answer This Question

A:  Yes if you drill through and screw into studs

              by|May 6, 2023

A:  Sure. No issues with the grab bar itself when mounting on a tub but you would need to be careful with the tub surface to make sure the substrate is secure and would not crack the finished surface ( fiberglass) of the tub. Must be careful. A piece of 2 X 4 behind the tub wall could help to strengthen the area for mounting so safety first. Make sure it is secure and can support whatever weight that would be applied to the grab bar.

              by|Nov 9, 2018

A:  Thank you. As long as there are studs that you can attach it firmly to behind the fiberglass, you can use it with a fiberglass tub.

A:  I can not see the answer.

A:  No! The fiberglass is not strong enough to support the weight on the two bolts. 244 Jake

A:  Screw into studs behind sheetrock

                  by|May 6, 2023

A:  It can be installed on this surface but if too much pull or weight is applied it could come loose. I recommend as do the instructions that it be screwed into the studs behind the tile and drywall. Safety first.

                  by|Nov 9, 2018

A:  Thank you. These need to attached to a stud inside the wall. We do not recommend Using the Grab Bar if it is not securely anchored to a stud.

A:  No, you need studs behind sheetrock to screw into.

A:  yes - try to find a stud and use heavy duty anchors

A:  The length would have to match stud layout so it matters which length bar you have.

A:  Additional blocking is definitely needed

A:  Providing that 2 screws are used at each end, and both screws are centered in the stud, the answer in my opinion is yes.
