A: Yes, but it doesn’t stay stuck to the wall at all. Even after following exact directions we had 3 and they all fell off within a month. And Home Depot wouldn’t take them back.

A: Mine has been on a bathroom wall for more than a year and looks good as new.
by|Mar 30, 2020
A: I haven't had that problem and mine was installed over 6 months ago. I would suggest you call the manufacturer. They should be able to help you or you could do a search on Google.

A: Interesting. It actually shouldn't have rust. Try to clean it with a little fine steel wool. Get the discoloration off and you then you can treat it with a little WD-40 oil and wipe off all the excess if it is mounted inside. If it is mounted outside you could apply a little clear paint with a small brush on the affected area to protect it from moisture after using the steel wool to clean the surface of any rust or discoloration. But truly it should not have rust especially if only a few weeks old.
by|Nov 9, 2018
A: Return it to Home Depot. Stainless steel doesn't rust unless it is defective, especially not after 2 weeks.

A: I have No idea how Rust got there, but vinegar will remove rust...

Q:WHAT IS THE STANDARD HEIGHT TO INSTALL NEAR TOILET
by|Jul 28, 2018

Answer This Question
A: This is a tricky question because users are of different heights. The first one I installed, I had my wife sit on the toilet and measured a comfortable height for her, took the highest and lowest levels she felt were actually reasonable and used the result to determine the mid-point to install horizontally. I recall the height being around 42 in.
by|May 5, 2023
A: 33-36 inches high. Avoid obstructions to a secure grip such as toilet paper holder, towel rack or window. Be certain the grab bar is secured to wall studs or blocking.
by|May 5, 2023
A: 29" off floor to bottom
by|May 5, 2023
A: I do not believe there is a standard height. What I have done many times is to sit on the toilet, and if it is to help you get up and down and for safety, I place it where it is easy to grab. In other words, install it in the most useful and comfortable location for your needs.

A: Install vertically on studs. Can be installed on a tile wall with a good anchoring system. If you need a horizontal grab bar on a studded wall covered with drywall, install at an angle so that the 18" grab bar spans a total horizontal distance of 16" thus spanning just one stud cavity.

A: I saw a great idea in a magazine. I cut out the sheetrock between studs, installed a 2x6 between them, reinstalled sheetrock, taped, textured & painted. You could hold an elephant on it. But is a bit of work.
by|May 5, 2023
A: In the same area of the store where I bought mine, Tampa Fla. There were fastener that are safe to use with Sheetrock. Uses four (4) screws to secure each end... costly at $15.... but will work.

A: Reasonable point. I have in the past gotten good support by using the inside screw of the three attaching point on studs and the other two with drywall inserts. In new or remodel construction you can beef up the studs where you intend to install these bars. Hope this helps.

A: Install at angle to align with studs

A: Install at angle to fit
by|May 6, 2023
A: If your studs are 16" on center, just attach at a angle in order to grab solid studs. This is a very good way to accommodate people of various heights
by|May 5, 2023
A: That's why many grab bars are installed at an angle, so you can position the mounting brackets over studs. Besides, the angular installation makes the bar easier to grab in some places, such as next to a toilet. If you can't use stud mounting, GB has a hollow wall mounting kit called WingIts that Home Depot sells for about 15 bucks.
by|Apr 3, 2019
A: They are designed to be installed vertically, at an angle (to allow for stud spacing) or with a backing board anchored to the studs.

Q:One of the Q&A states this product cannot be used in dry wall alone. However the product box indicates it can be used in sheet rock if you use WingIts to mount it. Which is correct? Also, if I can use WingIts which product do i want? Finally can this product be used in metal studs?

A: Don't know about where you are but here its only legal screwing it into underlying studs. Won't hold or take weight if installed otherwise

A: I have installed this type of grab bar in plenty of stalls. Before there were Wingits, there were various other hollow wall anchors. I generally utilized Mollys which had a wide wing type of fastener that into the hollow area. The only downside was you had to make a larger hole to accommodate the wings.
by|Jul 24, 2023
A: I have used it in drywall with wing nuts with success. Studs are better but wing type fasteners are fairly strong in general. Try getting at least one screw on each end in a stud and the rest with wing fasteners. And yes, all you need is for it to be sturdy so metal studs will work as well as long as it is sturdy and secure to the wall.

A: Thank you. You don't want to install this if there is no stud behind your drywall. If there is no stud behind your drywall, the WingIt kit, SKU 147-567, can be used for a stud-less installation.
