        Answer This Question

A:  You wouldn't want anything more than a light spray, you don't want so much water that it seeps through the crevices of the planks. I just use a Rubber Maid microfiber mop with sprayer and lightly spray then mop.

A:  CLEANING FLOOR - DAILY MAINTENANCE All Malibu Wide Plank Hardwood Collections are extremely easy to clean, easy to maintain. Attached to each product listing page under "Additional Resources From the Manufacturer" is the "Use & Care Manual". In Daily Maintenance please see below: Daily Maintenance 1. Sweep dust mop or vacuum your floor regularly to remove any particles that could cause abrasion or scratch your floor. CAUTION: Vacuums with a beater bar or power rotary brush head can damage a floor and should never be used. 2.Apply appropriate cleaning solution to the cleaning cloth / mop. Use a cleaner specifically manufactured for hardwood flooring such as Bona Hardwood Cleaner @ https://www.homedepot.com/p/Bona-32-oz-Hardwood-Cleaner-WM700051171/202528500 Internet #202528500 Model #WM70005117: Steps for using Bona Hardwood Cleaner: 1) DUST: or Vacuum Floor 2) SPRAY: Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner, sometimes best it be sprayed on Microfiber Mop/Bona Cleaner Pad vs spraying directly on floor 3) CLEAN: With Bona Microfiber Mop and Bona Cleaning Pad Additional Care for Handcrafted, Handscraped, Distressed or Wirebrushed Floors Since the floor that you purchased has a unique design and character you want to make sue to keep the floors looking like new. There are several key factors to protect the look of these truly handcrafted floors. • Walk off mats and areas rugs at entryways and pivot points – i.e., Kitchen sink and work areas. • Vacuum the floors as often as needed. It is important to vacuum up the dirt and debris as opposed to using a wet microfiber mop. Vacuuming will remove the dirt from the surface where a damp microfiber mop simply will push or embed the dirt into the wirebrushed, handscraped and/or distressed areas. Over time wet cleaning as such can discolor the floors making them look dirty. Additionally, the use of Microfiber mops can catch on the edges of the planks and may damage the planks requiring repair – avoid the use of these type of mops. • In the event the floors do show some discolor due to dirt build up consult a wood flooring professional who has the proper tools and equipment to thoroughly clean the floors. We recommend the use of a buffer in combination with a Tampico brush. A Tampico brush is a stiff natural brush typically made from Hog’s hair and will help to restore the floors appearance by removing embedded dirt and debris from the distressed areas. Do Not Use Water or Vinegar. Do NOT apply directly to the floor. • For tougher spots, use a higher concentration of isopropyl alcohol and distilled water. • For extreme cases, a solution of nail polish remover (acetone) and distilled water can be used. HINT: For best results, clean the floor in the same direction of the planks. When the cleaning cloth/mop becomes soiled, rinse or replace it with a clean one. Following up with a clean, dry cloth will remove residual streak marks and spots. 3. Do NOT leave any amount of liquids (water, juice, soft drinks, spills, etc.) on the floor. Clean any wet spots immediately. 4. Do NOT use a steam cleaner. 5. Do NOT use a wet mop or douse floor with water or liquid cleaners. Liquid can seep between the cracks and cause moisture damage. 6. Do NOT use any cleaning agents containing wax, oil or polish. Left over residue will form a dull film. 7. Do NOT use steel wool or scouring powder which will scratch the floor. Branded or Off-the-shelf Floor Care Products • If none of the above are effective and you choose to use a store bought product, test the product in a non conspicuous area (i.e., closet, corner, or scrap pieces) for potential adverse side effects.

Q:Is this engineer white French oak waterproof
            by|Apr 25, 2023
            1 Answer
            Answer This Question

A:  The Malibu Wide Plank Hardwood Collection would be considered Water Resistant and is an excellent choice for all rooms in your home including kitchens and half Baths. If you review the definition of "water resistant" = able to resist the penetration of water to some degree but not entirely, most hardwood flooring would fall under this category, however key is how long the water, spill, liquid stays on the floor. If you spill water, drips from dishwasher, or track in water from outside etc, solution would be cleaning/drying up the spill. If you clean up the liquid within a reasonable timeline, there should be no issues. If you have a pipe or dishwasher leak in your home, then even though you decided to purchase a "Waterproof" flooring option, the installation will also need to be waterproof. If there is a major flood in your home, more than likely homeowners’ insurance would need to be involved based on monetary amount it would cost to attempt to salvage floor, do water remediation, re-install a new floor, rip out damaged floor etc. Hardwood Flooring is the flooring of choice among the majority of homeowners, is extremely durable, easy to maintain, and an excellent investment in your home.

A:  The entire Malibu Wide Plank Collection of Engineered & Solid Hardwood Flooring is extremely durable, easy to clean, easy to maintain, and a great investment in your home that will return your hard earned dollars in the long run over other flooring alternatives. The entire collection of Malibu Wide Plank Hardwood Flooring is very durable, however If you look up the definition of Scratch resistant it essentially means that the product is able to withstand minor scratches. There are ways to prevent scratches on Hardwood Flooring by taking proper precautions to protect furniture and chair legs and feet with felt protectors. Moving heavy objects without a dolly and/or protective plywood beneath may cause damage to any type of flooring. Damage may also occur from spiked and/or high heels and pet claws. Falling objects can also dent or fracture any type of flooring.

                  Q:Can this floor be resanded

                  1 Answer
                  Answer This Question

A:  CAN FLOOR BE SANDED & REFINISHED OR JUST REFINISHED-OVERVIEW OF DIFFERENCE: The entire collection of Engineered & Solid Hardwood Flooring is extremely durable, easy to clean and easy to maintain. All of our floors are sealed with 7 layers of the latest super low gloss urethane finish with aluminum oxide, providing protection from everyday wear and all backed by a Lifetime Residential Finish & 5 Year Commercial Warranty. REFINISH: If needed for whatever reason you could apply a new coat of finish to the floor using the Basic Coatings TyKote or Bona Prep recoat adhesion method for recoating a prefinished hardwood floor that contains aluminum oxide. If board damage occurs, you can always have a professional mechanic perform board replacement. SAND & REFINISH: If you wanted to strip off all (7) Layers of Factory UV Cured Stain & Finish, and bring floor down to raw unfinished smooth wood, pending the install application this could technically be done (1) time on the 3/8” & 1/2” Engineered Locking which has a 1.2mm Thick Face Veneer and (2) times on the 1/2” & 9/16” Engineered Tongue & Groove which has a 2mm Face Veneer. However, this sand & finish is not covered under warranty as there are too many variables which can affect the outcome performed by your professional sand and finish mechanic. More than likely you would never sand and finish a prefinished floor unless you want to 100% change the color and remove the hand scraped, distressed or wire brushed surface texture and all (7) Layers of factory finish. You would also void your lifetime residential finish warranty and the surface texture which is wire brushed or distressed with saw mark etc.
