A:  No, the cited dimensions were exact and accurate, at least on the item that  I received.  As an alternative, you may want to try planing both sides of the ladder and both ceiling joists. Just a little. It’s close b

A:  There is some very small leeway in the length of the outer cover of the door but not in the frame that sits inside the rafters. Check the length of the pull-down cover and see if you can lose three quarters of an inch. Alternatively, you can remodel the frame at the non-hinge end and shorten it.

A:  I had the same problem but found a work around. The 54" was only critical at the bottom front edge where the ladder opens (opposite the ladder joint). I was able to notch the ceiling drywall to allow the ladder to open without making contact.

A:  my son and i removed the old one and put the new one in. The u tube video was very good on how 2 do it and even thou i am 78 + am a reasonable DIYer if i have a model 2 follow. I would NOT have tried it on a NEW install. Took us a couple of hours and its not super heavy about 80 lbs.
