I bought what was essentially the same mower in 2015. It was great until the 3 year warranty went out and that's when the problems started. Last year It was in the shop because the self-propelled part broke and had to be replaced as well as both rear wheels. This year, after using it about 4 times, it wouldn't start after I stopped to empty the bag. When I went to have it serviced it was going to cost over $300 to fix everything, so I just bought a new one. I bought this April 11, 2020 and I love the way this mower handles and cuts. Wheels roll much freer when you release the smart drive control. The self-propelled is fast which is nice because my yard has a slope and it charges right up. It looks great and I'm very pleased. Cons- I hope it will last longer than the last mower for the price. I would have bought an additional year or maybe even 2 years warranty but 3 years was the only option offered. then that plus the price and taxes puts this over $500. I'm not a professional lawn person so that's a lot of money for a mower.

Omg i love this lawnmower, i was unsure if i should get it but i took a chance and it cut my grass very good. My only complaint would be that the clippings get all over you for some reason it dont seal to well at the bag But then again i had to tell myself im out cutting my grass, your going to get dirty. So thats why i didnt knock a star off. But besides that i actually love cutting my grass now. The mower cuts as low as 1”, i like a low cut and it did the job for me. The dual blades cut my grass just how i like.

The Honda 21 in. 3-in-1 Self Propelled Lawn Mower is a great mower. It arrived quickly, was well packaged, was easy to assemble and the oil was in the box. Just remove from box, raise and lock the handle, attach the bagger, add oil and gas, and you are ready to mow. It started on the first pull and it has been that way every time we use the mower. The Maintenance Schedule said to change the oil after the first 5 hours of use or after the first month. This is the best mower we ever had and I am very happy with it.

Add oil and gas, and it's ready to use right out of the box. I like how the wheels are taller than my last push mower, but they are skinnier than the wheels on my last mower so that makes the increased height a wash. What's nice about bigger wheels is that it makes it easier to use on rougher terrain. I.E. bigger, wider wheels don't get stuck in ruts or mole holes like smaller skinnier wheels. In this case it's a moot point because it's a self-propelled mower. It seems like the collection bag on this mower is smaller than my last push mower, but that's an optical illusion. When I compared them side by side, this mowers bag wasn't as long, but it was wider, and deeper than the old mowers, so overall, this collection bag is probably bigger than my old mowers collection bag. As far as functionality goes, this mower makes cutting my lawn 1/2 the work it used to be. The mower deck is only 1 inch wider than my last one, but this one has 2 blades, which makes light work of even thick, tall grass. If you choose to bag, the discharge chute on this mower is huge! That should translate into less issues with heavy grass clogging up the discharge chute, which used to happen to me at least once or twice every time I went to cut my grass. It probably didn't help my old mower at all that I never once sharpened the blades, but my yard is small, and I've only had it for 9 years. This mower is a self propelled mower, so there is no need for me to push at all. This is another one of the reasons that cutting my lawn now only takes 1/2 the effort it used to. There is no throttle or choke to worry about, and it started the first or second pull after adding gas and oil, and turning on the fuel petcock. It really does seem like they've thought of everything down to the gas tank opening. It's nice and wide, so that you don't spill anything while trying to fill it. Occasionally, I would spill gas all over my old mower when filling the tank because the fill whole was so small. Finally, this mower is a Honda, so I know it'll work till the blades rust off in 25 years or so. And should there be a defect in assembly or something like that, there is a 3 year parts and labor warranty.

Mower arrived on October 21, packaged very well. No assembly was required, simply had to unfold handle, add oil, and set wheel heights. Also had to install grass bag on metal frame, but that was very simple and straightforward. Read entire manual, added gas and turned gas petcock ON. Mower started on first pull, no problem. This mower does an excellent job as can be seen in attached photos. I used the Mulch selection and was very pleased with the way my yard looks, best ever. Used Toro for many years, but now I am learning the quality and value of Honda, including the 3 year warranty.

Best lawn mower I ever had! The mower comes very neatly boxed, where about all that’s necessary is to cut the box away from it and raise the handle. After allowing the handle latches to fall into place, add the oil, which comes with the mower. The bagger goes together on its frame and is simply set into place with slots in the mower, directly below the shroud. Then use the green release lock to slide the ‘clip director’ to bag or mulch, whichever you prefer. And true to the Honda name, it started on the first pull. The thumb operated variable speed self propelled is great, matching the mower to your walking speed. It cuts great and never slowed in my centipede grass. Very impressive!

This is probably one of the easiest starting mowers I've ever had I had a Honda before love the thing the new one is even better the auto choke system is great because you have to do is turn the gas on pull the string and it starts itself .it is fantastic it's a really good more really recommended height adjustment is actually marked out in inches higher cutting would really recommend this more anybody looking to replace the existing mower Honda is a fantastic product.

This model is better than the last Honda Mower I bought 12 years ago.

I have owned Honda lawn mowers for over 30 years and they are reliable, trouble free and last many years. Consumer Reports rated them the best gas powered mower and I would agree. Well worth the money!

Disappointed in this new version. I bought this new Honda to replace my older model. I've used this mower 4 times to cut my 1/4-acre yard. This new model has a smaller bag, and IMO a terribly designed system to switch between bagging and mulching. The new deck allows clover mowings to stick to it like glue which negatively affects the cleanness of the cut and the mulching ability. This material must be removed after every mowing. The overall cutting performance doesn't seem to have the suction/vacuum and manicured appearance of my previous mower. I don't recommend this particular model.

This mower was a present for my son-in-law. He said it was the best mower that he has ever had.

Best Mower I have ever owned or used. Starts like a dream with practically no effort. Runs perfectly even in high grass. I love it.

First cut is beautiful. Clippings are very small with the dual blades on mulch setting. Self propelled wheels run as fast as you will ever need. This is my third Honda but unfortunately probably my last. Honda stopped production of all Honda mowers in September 2023. You better buy one now if you don’t want to go electric.

This is a newer version of the Honda twin blade mower I had for 10 years. It somehow cuts the grass worse with increased fuel consumption. Other parts of it feel cheaper than my old one as well, such as the lack of padding where your hands grip the handle. Unfortunately it has left me a bit disappointed.

Easy assembly and started easy

Powerful and simple to use. The self-walking feature is great and very conveniently designed. One thing is when you cut heavy grass area the self-walking will reduce the power so better to push it. Maybe there is even bigger power version

Haven’t had this very long, but out of the gate I’m very impressed. Nice and sturdy while cutting, with smooth start. Very easy to set up out of the box. Height adjustments on the wheel base are simple. Action on the self propeller mechanism is nice. You only use your thumbs to engage the self propelled setting and you can adjust the angle at which you do it, to what feels comfortable. Great mower!
