Answer:
Being copper it is an excellent conductor, therefore it should work for grounding purposes. There are also copper rods available in the electrical department at Home Depot that are specifically designed for grounding.

Answer:
It should work fine for the purpose. But it's not as sturdy as a solid ground rod, so driving it in hard soil might be a problem - it may buckle. It's cheap enough - give it a try!

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Copper Pipe...does its job This obviously is a bit of a beast to install piping. Especially for what I was doing. Install took a day. Found a small hole in the piping because I ran water through it before it had time to cool. My own fault but had to redo that area. October 11, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by diameter too large Don't use this pipe. The diameter is too large to fit in the fittings. Took about 4 minutes to grind, emery cloth, and steel wool to get this to fit in the fitting. Normally a 15 second job. Old pipe fit no problem. Took 5 hours to do a 3 hour job. I had 30 sweat fittings. July 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 1/2 copper pipe type L the way to go I found this pipe easy to cut and use. Keep in mind it's only 1/2 inch, the bigger you go the harder it gets to work with. Also please don't use type M, just don't. April 20, 2014
