Customer Questions & Answers

Is this material smooth on one side, suitable for painting?

Asked by: Rikity
Yes but the back is not meant for the outside surface, though it could be with a good primer and coat of paint. But then you would be better off with just getting normal pine tongue and groove boards as you would not get the weathered look that these boards are meant to look like.

how many would I need to by if the wall is 9 feet tall and 12 feet long
Asked by: HELp
If you got the 12 ft boards at Home Depot and ran them horizontally instead of up and down you would not need to cut any and you would need around 22 boards for a 9 ft ceiling. I put 3 boards together and they measured around 14.5 inches. So if you ran them vertically it would take more boards, around 30 of them, and you would have to cut off 3 ft off of each. (12 ft ) 144 inches divided by 14.5 inches = 9.93 x 3 = 29.79 boards. For 6 ft boards you would need double that, or 60 six foot boards to run them vertically which is ten 6-packs.

Can I use these boards for a table top?

Asked by: Charlie
These are made to have a space between the boards of around 1/4 inch so unless you are going to have a piece of glass over them I wouldn't recommend them for a table top as food and everything else will get in between the boards.

I bought several boxes of this. half the boards in every box were cracked 12-18" in on then end rendering them unusable. I returned them all. Very poor quality. I expected a few boards total would be bad but not half of them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Warning! Don't buy this 'shiplap' the quality is awful. It was stamped on the front (no not back) FRONT! So if you only plant to sain or leave bare this is not for you. It was warped, bend had bad end cuts, splinters, Oh so many splinters. We hoped that if we let it acclimate it would 'straighten' out but no such luck. Save your money you end up having to buy double the amount that you need to get some so so boards and then get the sanding paper, primer and paint ready other wise there is no way for this to look good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from shiplap obsession! Love love love shiplap! Cant wait to see it on the walls. Comes rough, invest in power sander if you don't have one. Shipping was interesting, just thrown on a pallet with cardboard over the top, we had 3 boards damaged. Price was way cheaper than lumber yards we checked. Can't wait to install it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK Boards RE: 1 in. x 6 in. x 6 ft. Barn Wood Shiplap Pine Board (6-Pack) My order was for three of these packages. What I received was one package with 8-foot length boards. The overall square footage was less than I expected. I had 2 damaged boards in my order too. The boards have a nice distress finish on one side, and a smooth finish on the reverse side. I plan to install them on an accent wall in the grand kids bathroom, should look good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Accent Wall Started staining and putting this product up in the game room as an accent wall. Have not finished as of yet but what I have done is looking pretty good. Easy to stain and easy to cut and handle. The reason I have not finished yet is because my wife was not sure if she liked it or not, after looking at it for a couple of days she has given me her blessing to finish it, I guess that will take up the next couple days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice shiplap product! Ordered this package of boards for a small home project and the wood turned out to be much higher quality than I expected for the price! The boards have a great grain and they are a,consistent size with smooth cuts and nice edges. They are straighter than most boards I've gotten at local lumberyards! These boards will look great when I get them stained
