I purchased 20 bags at a Maryland store in April 2017. There is NO WAY that any of the mulch in those bags was screened through a 5/8" screen. One bag had a forked branch 19" long and 1" in diameter, 2 pieces of metal can about 1" square, AND a red plastic Coca-Cola cap. Another bag had a half section of large branch over 12" long —and almost 3" wide. About 20% of the contents of each bag was filled bark chips that were 2" to 3" square. I would estimate only 40% of the contents would pass through a 5/8" screen. The bar code # on the bags I received was 740114 143834 packaged by gardenpro.

It is not a good product and I do not recommend it to others. It more coarse than the photograph, contained limbs, sticks and burnt wood. None of the bags had been screened or properly ground. It is not attractive in the garden. Additionally, the product has apparently been roasted or paritially burned to reduce sap and smells like it came from fire pit. The main thing going for it is price. All 3 bags were similar so this was just a bad bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Mulch The brown mulch I bought was what I ordered. There were a few 'chunks' of wood that evidently didn't get 'mulched' properly, but fo the most part it was quite good. The best part of this order was that when I got there it was waiting for me right at the customer service counter - ready to roll out to my car. That was very nice!

ALSO, THEY HAVE HUGE BAGS OF PERLITE AND VERMICULITE FOR GOOD PRICES, PERLITE WAS $16 AND OTHER WAS $27 OR LESS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used with Blueberries This is best used for growing blueberries. Blueberries like an acid soil. Hope this review helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cover for my bluebberry patch I put it on my blueberry patch last year to keep the soil acidic and low and behold, we had a ton of blueberry crop this summer! Not to mention, keeps the weeds down as long as you prepare the ground with a landscape fabric and about 2" of the mulch. It looks great too!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mulch had grass seeds in it This mulch was reasonably priced and looks great in the plant bed, but one of the four bags we purchased had grass seeds in it. We put the mulch down to inhibit grass and weed growth in the plant bed, but a lot of grass began growing in one particular section of the plant bed - and the grass is different from the grass in our yard. It's obvious that the one bag of mulch had seeds in it and they began growing shortly after we spread the mulch.
