where to install orbit fpt auto anti syphon valve model 57623

can it be installed outside
Asked by: easyed
Definitely! Be sure to install it higher than any hose bibs. In the southwest protect it and piping from the sun for long life.

Does this value have parts that can be replaced in the event of a leak, or do I have to replace the whole value?

Asked by: tinsley3
The solenoid can be replaced and the diaphram inside the valve can be replaced. These are the 2 most common failures but easily serviced. These valves last a really long time under normal use.

I have actually purchased many of these valves because of the cost savings. I found that I end up replacing them often. They will start leaking at the solenoid over time and they will fail frequently in a few months, while the Rainbird or Toro valves last forever. The input/output pipe connection, spaces of the pipes closer together than other valves so it is difficult to go to another valve without reworking your sprinkler piping. I am going to bite the bullet and will redo all my valves to higher quality valves. In this case, you do get what you pay for and it is not worth all the aggravation to continually replace valves to a small cost savings. I have replaced all my valves more than once with the Orbit brand to avoid the re-pipe but have come to the conclusions it is best to redo all my valves with quality ones. Sorry to say I would not recommend this valve.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks at solenoid Replaced few old valves with these because they were readily available at my store. The ones that I bought in 2015-17 didn't last a year. A little plastic part that sits under the solenoid cracks and starts leaking. And all my valves are completely shaded from the sun, so it cannot be attributed to overheating. Just lousy quality part. The same valves that I installed in the previous years seem to hold up fine, the problematic ones are those that were made after 2015. Orbit mamagers probably were happy for saving 0.001 cent. Good for them, but I am switching to a different brand.

After gluing one of many and set up my water lines valve area leaded. thinking that it was our connections we trouble shot and after much time and wasted water found that it was the valve out the box which was cracked and leaked tons of water.

Second season and 3 of them won't come on reliably (solenoid hums but only a trickle of water flows) and even worse, 2 of them don't shut off reliably. One ran for 6 hours before I noticed it was still on. My previous lawn genie valves worked fine for 25 years.

I just got done installing 4 of these valves in my back yard and they all work perfectly as expected. 2 for drip and 2 for sprinklers. I installed them about 8 inches higher then my highest sprinkler. No leaks during testing. Right below the solenoid is a handy lever for testing your system.
