I like the idea of a preassembled manifold, and this one is pretty well designed. The problem with this particular unit is the leakage previously described by other reviewers. However, with a little extra "engineering", you may prevent leaks. I used axle grease on the threads, hand tightened, and it was good to go. You must be careful to not over tighten, as this may damage the o-rings inside. After applying water pressure, there were no leaks.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rick Modular design should make replacement easier
Just installed these so I'm not sure on their long term reliability. I wish they had these 30 years ago when I first installed my system. Over the years I have had to replace several valves. Back then, when I first built my manifold, little thought went into my ever having a need to replace any valves, and for quite awhile when a valve did go bad I'd just swap out the top of the portion and leave the old valve body in place. Over time, the designs were changed on new valves and the parts didn't line up with the old valve bodies so I'd end up cutting pipes, adding unions, using special couplings and doing whatever worked. Well, this year I had decided to rebuild the whole manifold system, I had been putting off it for so long. Orbits system did cost more than rebuilding one from copper would have cost, doing the work myself, but the ability to replace individual components made the orbit system my best option.
I had read some reviews that mentioned leaks before i decided to go this route, I have had no problem with this, I just hand tightened all the joints and re-hand tightened any leaks I had from parts coming loose during installation, perhaps to much torque was used by some thinking more is better, sometimes it's not.
Hopefully orbit continues to support this product and keep sizes standardized, that would be my only concern, thinking forward. I do like the neat look of the finished product.
For my yard I have two sprinkler boxes, one in the front yard and one in the back with twelve valves total. So I bought an extra manifold without the valves and the couplings splitting five valves in front and seven in back. The extra openings were used to install a drain valve on both manifolds and a dedicated "full time on" waterline to a garden spigot with a manual shutoff valve. Having installed automatic drain plugs at the low points of all my zones, along with a "buried in a bucket" drain valve for my garden spigot, I am able to drain my entire system in a matter of ten minutes or less. I have never needed to blow out my system because of these drains. The added drain valve attached to the supply side of my manifold insures that enough water is removed to keep anything from freezing. One could just unscrew the end cap and not need the shutoff valve but then o-rings might fail or pieces might get lost, for the price of adding a few valves I'll make it up in less grief.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Raven MAJOR TIME SAVER
This is a major time saver for anyone who has to build manifolds for irrigation systems. Set comes with three electrically activated valves that are pre-assembled into a manifold ready for glue up application. This set may be ganged with other sets creating as many downstream outlets as you wish. Unit is pre-assembled but not pre-tightened. Once your glue ups are complete, be sure to tighten all fittings to manifold prior to charging with water.

The Preassembled Manifold is the most complete, reliable, and easy method to install multi-valve systems that I have ever used. This system works with both 3/4 in. and 1 in. systems. Included is Orbit's jar-top valves for easy valve maintenance. The Easy Wire system simplifies the wiring connection when attaching the valve to the timer. The preassembled manifold is durable, built with high impact UV resistant construction.
• 2 valves
• Installs in minutes; no tools required (Hand tighten fittings).
• Controls water flow for 2 sprinkler lines
• Works with PVC and poly pipe systems; adapters for 3/4 in. and 1 in. PVC pipe included
Would recommend the Orbit Valve Box base for mounting the manifold in a secure place.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Daniel Quick and easy way to add 3 new zones to my drip irrigation!
Orbit's 3-Valve Inline Manifold Assembly provides an easy method to install new or additional zones for sprinkler or drip irrigation systems. I am adding three poly pipe drip zones to my current system. One for my deck flowers and herbs. Another for a large raised bed garden, and the third for a new smaller raised bed. I currently have drip lines running to everything, All beds, bird feeder, scrubs, even my fountains. Needed to buy a 7x power line for this upgrade which now gives me 11 zones to work with. Very easy to install this unit, no tools required - hand tighten.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Retired297 Almost Installs It's Self
Orbit's, 3-Valve Manifold Assembly is a complete, reliable, and easy multi-valve systems. It works with 3/4 in. and 1 in. systems for new or as a replacement manifold. the jar-top valves make for easy valve clean out and all the connections are of hand tighten. The only gluing required was the fittings to the main line in and each line out and those screw onto the manifold. Wiring is as simple as most other's all commons together back to the controller and each valves 24v hot back to the station it's assigned to in the controller.

Forget the rest ... buy the best! I had no reservation whatsoever when I saw this valve assembly available. I've been using the Orbit valve assemblies for years and became a firm believer when our chickens (many) inadvertently covered up two valve assemblies scratching for food. They were covered up without protection for almost 3 years and performed flawlessly during that time and continue to perform flawlessly (several times a day for years). You'll be hard pressed to find anything better!
