Answer:
Please verify you have removed the tab from the battery compartment. Also try to remove the battery and reinstall if needed. For the best view on the display, view straight on, not from an angle.

The specification says "It's more than accurate, it's AcuRite." but it doesn't include how accurate is the reading displayed by the thermometer.

I would not think very accurate since the suction cup places the unit right at the window. The actual window and surrounding house are hot in summer and in winter, radiating heat from within. Also, the location of the window being used could be in full sun or shaded by a tree and other variables. So it becomes a question of getting a reading of your home's exterior wall as opposed to an air reading away from any buildings. Another problem is that all weather reporting agencies provide a different temperature figure and you don't know how often they update as well as the accuracy of their equipment. To find out, you would probably have to compare your reading to that of a calibrated mercury lab quality thermometer. Lastly, temperatures can vary widely from place to place depending on the density of surrounding buildings, concrete slabs, blacktop, and available trees. Read Less

LCD Thermometer is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good thermostat to use indoor and outdoor I placed new thermostat covers throughout the office. These thermostats had a suction cup for the outdoor windows so you can see the temp from inside the window. I used them inside the thermostat covers to verify the room temp along with the settings of the thermostat. We had been setting to 75 and the room was 68, we needed to verify so that building maintenance could reset the system. We now utilize these items to control anyone from touching the thermostat and also to continue to verify the room temp.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Returned item; not as advertised and the one I received read 5 degrees cooler I returned this item and just ended up fixing the suction cup on my own thermometer. The thermometer I received was not the one pictured and described here. I might have kept it but it read 5 degrees cooler than my other thermometers and my local weather report.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clear N Simple This little unit works like a charm in the daytime, is easy to read, clear and was a cinch to install. I've had it about 6 weeks so do not know how well it does long term. Temperatures in Wisconsin have not been extremely cold yet (just below freezing), so I am not able to report how well it works with temperatures below 0. Another reporter indicated it doesn't function below 0. Keep in mind it only gets the outside temperature, not inside and outside. If it keeps working (including the suction cups), it is definitely worth the money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quite Possibly the Best Thermometer EVER!!! I've owned this thermometer for 1.5 years in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. It has been stuck to the outside of my sliding glass door for the entire time. The battery continues to work, the thermometer continues to work, and, most surprisingly of all, the suction cup continues to hold it to the door through 90+ degree temperatures and all the way down to -20 degree temperatures with wind chills in the -50 degree range. The only complaint I have is that when the temps drop below zero, the thermometer reads LO, which is true, and funny, but it doesn't display the actual temperature. Apparently it wasn't designed with Minnesota in mind. The best feature seems to be the suction cup, since it can hold through the wide range of temperatures and continues to hold despite frequent jostling when the door opens and closes. I placed it directly behind the handle of the door so my young kids would be less likely to touch it, because the door slides against another door, and because I fully expected it to fall off and hit the deck and wanted to reduce the distance between it and the deck to prevent breaking. Although this is the best feature, I'm pretty impressed by the battery as well, since it has held up under the same conditions for the same amount of time. As for the appearance, the device looks great too. However, since it's clear, reading the thermometer can be challenging unless you're looking directly at the device in the day time. It's more difficult to read it at night, because the numbers are black and so is the background, since it's a clear device. I would highly recommend the product I purchased for the price I paid at Home Depot ($7.99). Perhaps I received the only good one, which doesn't seem likely, since that's not how much luck generally runs, but, if so, then I'm eternally grateful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lets you know how to dress! I like this thermometer because I can look outside and know what the temperature is in order to know what to wear! The only problem I had was that I got it wet and it no longer works, so I have to get a new one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Bought this to replace an old thermometer that looked similar but the suction cup broke on it. #1 - I don't think it's accurate. Seems to report the temp is a few degrees warmer than it actually is. #2 - You can only see the temperature during the day when there is light shining behind it. At night the display is unreadable, even shining a flashlight on it does not work. Lesson learned: should have just bought a new suction cup and fixed the old thermometer the way my grandfather would have done.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from to be returned The suction did not stay on the window for more than a few minutes. The temp. showed 47 degrees when in actuality it was 30 degrees. Also, the product was hard to read unless it is daylight.
