What is the strength of this pipe?

Building a French Drain and want to know how many inches of drain rock I can safely put over this pipe.
Asked by: MHL
If the ground surface is truly green space or a landscape area, minimum cover may be 12-inches (0.3m) from top of pipe to ground surface for all diameters. These recommendations assume the pipe is installed in accordance with manufactures recommendations and may not address the cover needed to prevent flotation. any difference in the material between 2 hole and 3 hole versions of this pipe?

the specifications on the website seem to be off, list the weight as .5lbs for the 3 hole and 4.25lbs for the 2 hole. I want to run some footing drains as well as gutter drains, I'm looking for thicker wall if available.
Asked by: jeffrey
It is the same pipe, with different hole patterns. Either are more than strong enough for these applications as long as you are back filling with Angular crushed stone or rock, crushed gravel, crushed slag; large voids with little or no fines. Is this pipe stiff like PVC Sch 40 pipe or is it flexible?

Asked by: tonyATX
Neither choice really describes the pipe. The pipe flexes in length about as much as Sched40 PVC, but it is not as hard.

4 in. 3 Hole 120 Degree - 5/8 in. Holes Smoothwall Pipe is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from You don't need the external snap coupler These pipes are expanded at one end so that they fit one into the next. It isn't clear from the picture or specification so I bought the "4 in. Polyethylene Slip External Snap Coupler" unnecessarily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Non-standard Use Worksed Perfectly We used these pipes to force aerate our compost piles. They were cost effective and the pre-drilling saved us a lot of time. These were a true find for our use.
