why is the screen on the top vs on the bottom. Lowes product has the screen on the bottom. Is this a design flaw or is this the way it is to work.

Asked by: paul
I picked this product with the screen on top so leaves and those "whirly birds" don't get caught under any grooves or slots.

i bought these a year ago and they have gaps now which defeats the purpose and keep moving. What can I do to make them work? What kind of clips or what do you suggest? Otherwise think I will have to buy all new ones and different.

Thanks. I found out that they were not installed correctly after finding amerimax instructions. The roofer did not overlap them. I got someone to come in and do this and also put a nail at the ends to keep them in securely. I will see if this works in the summer. That was the biggest problem for me. They kept moving and sticking out and they couldn't be moved because they were sticking to the shingles with the tar. Thanks. Hope this works now.

Yep - they filtered great -- in fact, they filtered so well that the water couldn't go thru fast enough causing the gutter to overflow in downpours. The gutters weren't full - just blocked by this product. It negated the purpose of having gutters. Within 6 months, my new white gutters were permanently discolored. I still didn't take them down but after a few years they failed in the hot Texas summer sun, and sagged into the gutters near the ends and corners effectively creating gutter dams. Now I've removed the product and getting ready to repaint to cover the stains. In short, this product caused increased gutter maintenance instead of reducing it.

Lasts for several years before they sag or weaken - I've had the product on my gutters for almost 8 years and just need to replace now. Annoying that Home Depot has white in stock but I have to order brown on line since no brown is carried in my local stores.

Because I thought they were working I did not check for several months the second year and ended up with gutters full of leaves which had gone under warped and deformed panels.

I installed about 30 ft of this product and 100 ft of the same product without the filter on my house in Seattle. I used the filter gutter guards in one corner of my house where a large cedar tree drops small needles every year. The product arrived on time, was reasonably priced, and was very easy to install. I like the fact that it's a low profile gutter guard that is not visible from the street, unlike the metal hinged gutter guard that Home Depot also sells. Like others, I snipped about 1 inch off the snap-in side of the guard to provide some overlap and additional support with the adjacent guard. Not sure if this was really necessary but it didn't add a lot of time. Suggest that Amerimax get in touch with the 3M Company and come up with a sticker that is easier to peel off; I used a putty knife to scrape it off each 3 ft panel. My only significant issue with the product is that I'm seeing a few large drips occur off the gutter about every 10 ft or so along the snap-in side of the guard during even a fairly light rain event. Of course one of these drips falls right at our front door. I'm seeing the drips on both the guards with and without the filters. I haven't had a chance to see how they perform yet during a heavy rain. I'm planning on going up the ladder during a rain and drilling small holes below the snap-in lip at the drip points to dry to drain the water into the gutter before they overflow the lip and form a drip.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WARNING! Yes, these install very easily and keep out debris and leaves as long as they haven't been exposed to summer sun and then they buckle down into the rain gutter and clog everything up along with the debris. Installed these in the Fall of 2015 and they are completely useless now (July 2016). The No Warranty should have been the clue. Time spent installing is now a complete loss. Will check into another product that will do the job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product I have had these on my home for almost 5 yrs. now. I recently had to replace one small section due to squirrel damage but other than that, they have performed very well. I have about 100' total on my home and just inspected all of it. With the exception of the squirrel damage, the product is holding up very well. I have been pleasantly surprised by it's performance and durability. Very economical.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from BUYER BEWARE! BUYER BEWARE! i write very few reviews, only when I am over the top excited or disappointed with a product. In my opinion this product is garbage and should not be sold. I installed these one year ago and upon recent inspection found that they have all caved in and are laying in the bottom of the gutters. I don't know if the weight of the snow pushed them in or the heat of the sun softened them but I wasted a lot of time and money on this purchase. Of course, I no longer have my receipt so I may be stuck with them. If this is the case Home Depot has lost my business forever ... there is a Lowe's directly across the street from them.
