What does 6-YEAR mean considering it has a 2 year warranty?

This says 7 GAL. 6-YEAR but has a 2 year warranty, what does 6-YEAR mean?
Asked by: Tex
to be honest the warrantee is a little confusing. the way it reads I believe it says its 2 year is complete and after that its limited up to 6 years. now in my case I used mine on my boat, as I have found with sears and others the warrantee is void because its not in a house or permanent structure. to keep the honesty going,, mine works real well and doing it everyday as is my air conditioner and refrigerator. the biggest thing u need to worry about is making sure the bonds are in good shape and the appliance will out last you

Are there any water heaters that are 1500 watts that have a higher amt. of gallons?

I need about 19 gallons minimum
Asked by: Mary
the problem you are getting into is much bigger and it will take 2 elements to heat it. with that said most 2 element tanks are 220 for that reason. you can put 2 of these units in near where they will be used that way if you have 2 showers hook each to a shower and have the surplus go to the rest of the area you want to cover.

I'm replacing an existing 12 gallon water heater on a boat

Is there anything that would be a problem with this usage?
Asked by: Viking
my hot water heater was smaller and was setup to be heated by the motors. but I will tell you that the 7 gal heater I have doesn't take long to recover and seems to have plenty of hot water for shower and dishes. now I am one person on my boat. the heater has to be set in the sideways position to be 7 gal. I used nylon straps like the ones for battery tie downs to keep it in place I also used 2 pieces of teak 2x2x10" to sit the heater above the deck so water would not be trapped. make sure of the electrical bond is secure so the stray power goes to the zinc and it will do good for a long time.

7 Gal. 6-Year 1500-Watt 120-Volt Point-of-Use Mini Electric Water Heater is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 131.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performs as intended...saves time & water...thus money Since our hot water heater is located at the very back of the house, we were wasting a lot of water waiting for the hot water to reach the kitchen sink. I contacted Home Depot, and one of their experts suggested I purchase a mini-electric water heater. He had the necessary hardware waiting for me at the service desk when I got there. The heater fit under the sink where the dishwasher used to be & plugged in,& to the existing 120V outlet Installation took about 30 min...& the wife is thrilled at the waiting time & the water is actually hotter than the existing hot water heater...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaced fifth wheel RV water heater We replaced the worn-out water heater in our fifth wheel with this unit, it was a breeze to install, provides plenty of hot water for our needs and for its price compared to a replacement propane/electric RV water heater this was actually a no-brainer. Now of course we lost our propane ability to heat water but since our unit is set up year-round as a quasi-Park model it was not an issue. All I had to do was remove the old one, I put a cap on the main propane line and slid this unit right into the same area and plugged it into the same switch that provided AC power to the original one. Works like a dream and would definitely recommend as a replacement if you don't require propane.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Pleased I did not do the installation but watched our plumber do it. He said that he had never installed a small water heater but was impressed with it. He had tried to talk me out of buying one this small so I was glad to see him pleased with the quality and ease of installation. It has worked perfectly for us...two of us...enough hot water for showers and more than enough hot water for other needs. On high setting it gets very hot. And it also is pleasing to the eye. I've had a couple of people comment on how nice it looks...sort of space age as one guy put it. :) It's unobtrusive and looks nice. For just the two of us, I'd never put a larger hot water heater in again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Compact Water Heater! I was looking for a water heater to use for a couple of sinks in a shop. I knew that I didn't want a conventional tank type water heater. I really didn't want to pay to heat water 24/7 in large quantities just so I could wash my hands with warm water. I came across this water heater and after reading the specs on it, I figured it was just what I needed. It has a small reserve of hot water (6 gallons) that is perfect for my needs. It heats water very fast when needed. With straight forward installation instructions and 2 different installation options, it made installing it where I needed it a breeze. Its compact size was also a plus. The controls are easy to read and the LED light showing when it is on is easy to see. It has been installed for about a month and has performed flawlessly. If you need a point of use water heater, I would totally recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works! You can use this to take showers with but you will likely need to adjust water pressures to dial it in. Also be mindful that the GPM of the showerhead will make a difference. This was easy to install and is 'just enough' hot water for me to take a shower. If I had it over? I may have went with something more 'on demand' as I do miss the extra 5 - 10 minutes I enjoyed to lean up against the shower wall to just hang out. This was the only option I could afford. You will be in a hurry to shower with this water heater. Bless you all. \m/ Price was right. Shipping was fast Satisfied purchaser and will use HomeDepot.com again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versitile point of use electric water heater This is my third 6 gal. heater. The first two developed tank leaks after less than 2 years. My fault, should have changed the anode sooner. The anode relieves the steel tank from the ravages of corrosion and is itself consumed over time. However, the anode in these units is very inadequate and should be checked/changed every 6 months, not 1-2 years as the manual and the instructions on the unit advise. Buy extra anodes and gaskets when you purchase this unit, they are easy to change. This version of the 6 gal heater required hard wiring. The previous two came with a wire and plug. The manual recommends 12 ga. wiring on a 20 amp circuit which provides a good margin of safety. However, out of curiosity, I cut the wire off the unit I was replacing and discovered the manufacturer used 16 ga. wire. Not exactly quality or safety minded. How much more money would have it cost the manufacturer to use even 14 ga. wire? So I'm happy to install my own 12 ga. wiring for this unit simply for the safety factor. In full disclosure, I use these heaters in my horse barn. It is so handy to have hot water on demand for a wide variety of tasks including baths in warm weather. Bottom line though I would be willing to pay more for a better constructed unit that I didn't have to replace every 1-2 years but this seems to be the best I can get in a small capacity heater. As far as improving this heater, the manufacturer should equip it with a larger anode.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great Needed a water heater to use while my boiler was shut down. I didnt want to spend alot of money. This heater works great. Use a restrictor in your shower heads and you get a decent length shower. Great for washing dishes and short use. About 20 minute recovery. Serves its purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unit was very easy to install and works better than expected. The unit arrived in perfect condition, installation was very easy. I only needed to buy a few hoses from the local Home Depot to hook it into my plumbing. The water volume capacity is higher (7 gal) than labeled on the box or web if you follow the installation manual and install it on its side. The unit's internal insulation seems very good because I do not see the unit turning on to keep the water hot, it only seems to turn on after we run the hot water and deplete it's content. So I think this unit will save me money in the long run because I am using less hot water from my main house heater. Overall I am very happy with this unit.
