Customer Questions & Answers

Can thi staple Hammer penetrate vinyl flooring ?

Asked by: Jerry
Depends on what type of vinyl flooring (there is some pretty thick strong stuff now) and what is beneath it. Old or cheap vinyl with plywood under it, I would say no problem.

Spay a lot of WD-40 down the back a few times and let it sit for a day. Are you using the right staples?

I swear, this stapler must have been made in Jamaica, because it always be jammin! Not in a good way either. As in, jams every 3rd staple, then fires out 3-5 staples on the next hit after the jam. We bought this about a month ago for my work, only used to secure VCI paper and plastic to a pallet as a cover so we can ship sheetmetal parts without risk of rust. Its not even like it's a hardwood either, its just 2x4 pine wood that you can chip at with your fingernail. Overall this product serves better as a hammer or a glorified paperweight. Unless you like going through a whole sleeve of staples to do 1/2 of an 8x8 pallet, you're a masochist that enjoys suffering and agony, or you just want something heavy to chuck at walls, don't buy this.

It's well made and does the job. You still need pound some of the staples in with a hammer, but that is just a practice thing, and this was my first time using this tool. I would like to mention that a brad nailer with a stapler function is an easier option for a novice like myself, and all you need is a small 2 gallon compressor to run one. I later purchased a brad nailer for installing my baseboard trim, and it has an option to use staples. If I would have known this, I could have saved myself the money spent on this tool, and cut down on time and effort. I purchased the NuMax 3 in 1 brad nailer and stapler at Home Depot for my trim. My favorite tool, and I've only used it once... http://www.homedepot.com/p/NuMax-Pneumatic-3-In-1-16-Gauge-and-18-Gauge-Brad-Nailer-and-Stapler-SXL31/206464493

If you want solid built, long staple driving powerhouse of a hand tacker this is it. I bought mine because the guy I used to work for had one and ever other type he had broke. He was hard on tools. This model never broke. Bonus feature is that it will hang in a hammer holder on your bags with the big head. Like all tools maintenance them. Any time this ever jammed (and we used it to put tens of thousands of staples in) I would just spray a little WD-40 in it and everything would go back to working great for many boxes of staples to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the job This stapler is perfect for the job of stapling paper packing slips onto a wooden box or similar. Heavy enough to be secure not so heavy to be difficult to use. I bought this hammer after buying another brand and finding it difficult to purchase staples that fit. It's easy to get the supplies for this stapler. I highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun - but only up to 1/2 inch staples This is a quality stapler. I wish it went to deeper staples so I could use it on 1" foam. I need an product to attach 1" foam, and 2" foam, that is easy and inexpensive, and this isn't it. But I love tack staplers - very fun to use. I've used it to attach tar paper on roofing, and was disappointed when the job was done - it's just so much fun!!! All Arrow products seem higher quality than competitive products, in general. Be sure to read reviews before buying a hammer tacker - some that I have purchased from competitors will easily jam, and some are very difficult to un-jam. In general a hammer tacker is the most fun, easiest to use, and hurts your arm and hand the least of all products - electric or manual, for stapling. I highly recommend a hammer tacker for all staple jobs - if you have enough room to swing it. Not suggested when working in tight spaces. Some people just don't know how to swing a hammer with any power, and can't use a tool like this. Some people don't have good eye-hand coordination and can't use a tool like this. If they can't hit a nail then they can't use a hammer tacker well.
