The product has a "Pet Friendly" switch, but it supposedly repels rodents. If you see abnormal behavior in your Chinchilla stop using the product.

Customer Reviews

Home Sentinel 5-in-1 Indoor Ultrasonic and Electromagnetic Pest Repellent is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 44.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Aspectek Home Sentinel This product works as advertised, as a repellent, bugs and other creatures start disappearing and stay away from the zone the device covers. Prior to purchasing it, I researched for similar types of products with their reviews and caution about scams, defects and deceptive products. Those that wrote negative comments were probably expecting immediate results as soon as they would plug the device in their homes. There are instructions and guidelines that come with the product to make it work properly in a timely fashion. Tip: keep ample space around the area where it's plugged in, too much fabrics or soft surfaces hinder its functionality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mouse FINALLY gone!!! I had a mouse (1) in my house for months. I tried enclosed traps w/p-nut butter, electronic trap w/p-nut butter, sticky traps w/pnut butter or cheese, and I even tried a lot of cotton balls soaked in Peppermint oil. I had ALL of these throughout my house. Didn't work, I still had the mouse. I read reviews of all the electronic devices at Home and decided to purchase two different devices (I was tired of the mouse laughing at me and thinking he was smarter!) I purchased the Home Sentinel 5-in-1 and the Victor Pestchaser Pro at the same time, thinking one of them HAD to work!! I put the 5-in-1 in my kitchen (most of mouse activity there) and the Victor Pestchaser in my living room. Since installing these, I have had absolutely NO signs of a mouse, and its been 1 1/2 months now. Not sure which, or both worked, but I am now MOUSE FREE!! The Home Sentinel does emit a slight intermittent buzz, but isn't enough to be annoying to me. I did place it closer to the floor, near where one of my dogs sleeps, and it seemed to annoy her, so I moved it higher up, and it doesn't (neither products) bother my dogs (2) anymore.

We have had small critters scurrying in our attic air space between our ceiling and our metal roof for about 2 years. We hoped this would drive them away. We installed it mid January on the second floor but continue to hear little feet and occasional chewing. The outside temp ranges between -10 and 25 degrees right now so perhaps the "vibes" are not enough to send them out. Maybe it takes a while to drive them out!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mystery pests gone... Since moving into our new apartment my wife has been plagued with bug bites. we have been unable to identify the bugs or where they're coming from. We couldn't think of anything to get rid of them as my wife's allergic to most chemical bug repellents. Then I saw this device, and it's description claims it works on bugs of all type as well as rodents. So we bought it and my wife hasn't suffered a new bug bite since it was installed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Reduced effectiveness in Pet Friendly mode I got this for two primary reasons: 1) I have a big problem with flying insects coming in my back door when I let my dogs go outside; and 2) it has a "Pet Friendly" setting that supposedly wouldn't bother my dogs. Just as a test, I plugged it in with the Pet Friendly setting turned off (which activates the "ultrasonic" mode in addition to the other two deterrent modes) and both my dogs immediately went nuts. Once the setting was turned on, both dogs were fine. So obviously the Pet Friendly setting works well. However, I haven't seen any signs of deterring flying insects at all. I have it plugged in right next to my back door yet flying insects don't seem to be bothered in the least and just come right in as they did before. I got rid of my rodent problem a couple of years ago so I can't vouch for its effectiveness with rodents. Clearly, the Pet Friendly setting reduces the device's maximum effectiveness, so I would probably only recommend this product to someone who doesn't have pets. But, considering that it doesn't consume much power (and the night light feature is very nice), I'm willing to just let it do it's thing to hopefully deter at least some pests.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sentinel 5in1 I was not please with the product. It didn't perform how it suppose have Perform still had a bug problem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I purchased 3 of these units to chase away mice and chipmunks in the house/basement/garage. So far, the only thing it seems to irritate are my dogs. I turned on the PetSafe button on the one on the mail level, but now only one of the three settings work, and the light doesn't come on at all. I am still finding new evidence of mice in the basement (along with acorns in the middle of the floor), and the chipmunks are still having a party in my garage. It's entirely possible that there are fewer mice/chipmunks than I might have without the units, but it certainly hasn't eliminated the problem. For the cost involved, I would have been better served to go with the tried & true Decon. It may not be the "politically correct" solution, but at least I wouldn't have mouse dropping in my silverware drawer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Might be a good purchase for a non pet owner For starters, I bought the product to deal with a mouse problem in an unexcessable area of my attic. I was not able to utilize all of the units features due to my pet cat. The ultrasonic sound feature, which is probably the most important feature of the unit, could not be used because it drove my cat bonkers. I have been using the unit for several weeks now and I have not heard any movement from the attic. Did they move to another part of the attic or leave completely, I have no clue. But, they don't seem to be making noises where they were before the Home Sentinel so I guess it works.
